Of course it makes difference if there is blood or not. Blood is very connected to emotions. When someone sees the sea in red color, the sensations automatically binds to human blood. A person who lost a related person by being shot by a gun or stabbed by a knife will immediately associate the blood and may remember this fact.

Blood for sure makes the image innapropriate for children and it may be a problem to sensitive people.

My point of view is that the japanese does not have to be critized because of dolphin hunting.

But the japanese need to be critized for not explaining it well and also they have to do some effort to make it appear less cruel. The way we do things are very important. It cause sensations and influence others. For example, the same phrase spoken calmly and angrily do sounds different only because you change the tone of your voice, and can completely change the meaning of your message.

Japan is a very introspective country. I know it is difficult to explain itself being introspective, but as being a modern country and classified as first world, its citizens and politicians must do some effort to try to communicate well and to do better propaganda of its acts. I lived in Japan, I know japanese have good hearts, but what is worth a good heart if this is a hidden heart and nobody can see it?

I am extremely concerned about this topic. It is becoming news in newspaper and tvs all around the world and hurting Japan's reputation.

I don't know the motivations of this dolphin hunt because nobody that I know has this explanation. But my point of view is that Japan must think deeply about which option is best.

To keep dolphin hunt tradition and badly hurt the country's image.

To stop it or at least give the world some explanation why this tradition is good, and what values it adds to the world.

Posted in: Japan to open door further to skilled foreign workers See in context

Good moves by the japanese government. They have to make sure this will go out of paper.

Also, it is important to get lighter workload. Japan is internationally known as being a country of tireless workers. Because of this, most people that I know would not want to work in Japan. More work means less quality of life and less time to invest in personal improvement.

My point of view and it can be very controversial is that it is possible to work less if you act in a more intelligent way. To think before act.

In a scenario where both husband and wife will work, the importance of quality of life will be much higher. Otherwise, suicide rates may augment and hapinness of society may decrease. Maybe I am not right, but to me, people are incapable of producing good results if they are not happy.

Posted in: Malaysia's Anwar shocked after being barred entry into Japan See in context

My point of view is that it would be good if some japanese authority appear gently declaring it was a mistake of a "non-effective" immigration personnal/system. If Japan really wants to consolidate itself as a global power and influence the rest of the world then it must incentivate people to talk, to express its opinions. It must be a place where every human being can find a home.

My way of seeing it is that if a person is unwanted in the country, its people must bar him, and not the system. The system should impose restriction only in more severe subjects as the last weapon to solve a conflict or problem. If the people can not do that, then the society has a problem, it is a weak society. This is one of the reasons the United States and most of the western countries are powerful. Each individual of these countries are strong and they do not depend on the system to survive or to do the right thing. If you depend on rules is because you don't have the necessary education to behave correctly without these rules controlling your behaviours. A solid society is the one that is completely free.

Albert Eisten was politically persecuted in Germany before he moved to the United States. I think history show us we cannot give our back to any single person in this world.

And chinese rethoric keep growing and growing. It is hard to say that, but the Chinese, I think, they will have to go to a big war before they can get mature.

Some people can say it is matter of reading history textbooks to conclude war is not the way. But I think the chinese will only stop when they finally experience it. It is like a teenager who wants to see everything with their own eyes.

If Abe wants to go, I think he should go. There is not reason to not go only because of anti gay law. We are talking about sports.

By the way, countries should forget all disagreements (and wars) and compete in sports only.

If some country wants to show it is better than others, go to the olympics and do its best.

Oh My godness. I always thought that japanese diplomacy was childish, but the chinese are much more child than the japanese.

At least the Cold War between Japan and China is funny, different from what ocurred between USA and USSR couple of decades ago.

I think it is to rude to say Abe is doing this only to counter China's rise. It would be much better to use words like 'friendship' or 'share common interests'. Sometimes I don't understand the way japanese media behave. It is like to shoot oneself in the foot. It for sure does not help in the progress of the country.

Posted in: Gov't promises equality, but women find few jobs See in context

Complementing my comment above, to make this happen I think the japanese will have to change behaviour to be more flexible.

Having both of the parents working and a child may eventually require that one of them be absent of work to bring the child to a doctor or a dentist, for example. The parents may have to use the lunch time to go somewhere buy diapers. Until where I know the japanese working/timing system is not that flexible.

It may require that all job positions be really in flexible time format and to work with bank hours so the employee/collaborator may do like 5 hours in an day and compensate the other 3 hours in other days.

Also, companies have to stop reprimanding the employee about the time they arrive and the time they go home (also at lunch time). Why someone would reprimand the employee for eventually doing like 1 hour and 20 minutes of lunch? If you do not trust your collaborator simply fire him instead of giving reprimands.

It is a very serious matter because the quality of life would decrease while suicide rates and unhappiness grows.

Another very important aspect that I have noticed in the brazillian case: In the last years, with both parents working, the Work Life and the Personal Life became merged into one singular thing, with coworkers actually having to help each other so the difficult of raising a child can be achieved (like: Ok, take it easy... you may go to the doctor because health is the more important than anything, you can go, I cover you). Also, to de-stress, coworkers will have to openly talk about personal matters at work. The employer will commonly see the employee using their work time to solve personal problems.

Can Japan do/accept all these things? Because my point of view is that it is kind of required so to keep a minimum level of quality of life.

Posted in: Gov't promises equality, but women find few jobs See in context

My point of view is that Japan has no choice. Japan has one of the largest gender gaps in the world. Lots of old man and very few babies being born.

If women does not fill this gap, what is going to be of japanese workforce?

I live at Brazil, a country that does not discriminate women. 20 years ago women were housewifes, only man used to work. But nowadays both man and woman work. The proof is that our president, Dilma Roussef is a woman.

The companies and the brazillian law are very flexible with woman. For example, a woman can not be fired if she is pregnant. She has the right to take maternity leave (at least 4 months and maximum of 6 months) and even the husband can take the parental live (maximum of 5 days). In this period the parents receive their full sallary.

Also, parents must put their children at daycare centers while they are working.

I don't know anything about japanese law and daycare center infrastructure. But as the way I see it, Japan needs very much of women`s workforce. And if the laws, flexibility and day care center infrastructure is not ideal, this will need to be changed to make it possible.

Posted in: Abe says it is time to revise pacifist constitution See in context

Japan need a change in its article 9 because:

1) To get out of alienation. No weapons policy is good, but it is utopian. It only works in a world where the US will be present forever and defending Japan with the same prohibited weapons. While the entire world use guns, how can Japan guarantee sovereignty of state? Today the japanese are war/conflict alienated. It don't know how to use guns and also don't know how to deal with conflicts, how to negotiate in difficult relationships. That's why China bullies Japan all the time.

2) It is very important so Japan can work together with alied forces. Today Japan can only defend itself but not defend its alies. Japan must provide support to allied countries.

3) Japan must go abroad to get conflict international experience. Today, Japan has almost zero experience in this field.

4) To balance power in Asia. As China is powering itself, Japan also needs it.

My point of view is that you, that are japanese, must give support to Abe. It is a very important change and it will must be done someday as US will not be in Japan forever. Why not now?

Abe was not welcomed even before the visit. I am shocked to see lots of comments with nonsense words coming from anti-japaneses here.

Why all this anger coming from China and maybe also Korea?

And I have to congratulate american diplomacy. As I always say to everyone: The US is for sure the most evoluted civilization that this world has ever saw.

Two weeks ago they were in a big trouble being in the middle of Japan and Chinese rethoric. After couple of days, with some diplomacy techniques, they were able to become invisible! Only the US know how to do that. In the other hand, Japan is always being targeted by its neighbours...

I wish China could stop with this nonsense rethoric and that Korea could unhide from China's back, and that Tokyo could learn some diplomacy techniques with Washington.

The way I see it all the three asian countries are just children when compared to more evoluted countries from the West.

Posted in: Most Japanese want Abe to heed fallout over Yasukuni: poll See in context

I feel that Japan is doing good.

My point of view is that chinese rethoric is not right. But because China is so tied with the main economies of the world and everyone is so dependent on them, everyone is obligated to be sightless to chinese abuse.

The USA has the power to manipulate people's opinion in Asia. Both Japan and China must take care with it.

Analising the japanese side, my opinion is that Japan was manipulated by the US in the last decades, or maybe in the whole last century. But this manipulation was good because the US was helping Japan to modernize. In exchange, the americans used Japan to stablish the US presence in Asia. All the benefits would go to Japan.

But from now on, the US has interests in China too and the US will have to spread benefits to both countries. In a situation like this, there are times the benefit will stay with Japan, while other times will stay with China. Also, this kind of relationship may eventually bring losses to Japan or China, because there are matters that are good to Japan but not to China and vice versa.

The way I see it is that the japanese will have to work to be less dependent on the US. Mr. Abe knows that and things like the boost on military spending is part of this plan. Thats why I think Japan is just going to the right direction, and that Abe is the best japanese prime minister I saw after Junichiro Koizumi.

Let's pretend Abe has the chinese rethoric:

"Abe: The essence of Chinese leaders is to bully the japanese people and we won't accept that. Chinese behaviour of neighbouring aggression must stop right now. The chinese must bear the consequences arising from this. Chinese aggression causes great harm to the feelings of the Asian people and creates a significant new political obstacle to bilateral relations."

And that Xi Xinping has the japanese rethoric:

"Xi Xinping: I have no intention at all to hurt the feelings of Japanese people. I wish to continue friendly relations with Japan, which are important and will benefit national interests,"

It took a while, but it is incredible how in the last 5 years japanese food and specialized restaurants became popular in Brazil. Today everybody know what is sushi. We can found it even in the most popular self-services restaurants (where you pay by the weight of the food that is in your plate).

We have lots of restaurants specialized in serving Temaki, the most popular japanese food that is sold here (that is not so common to found in Japan) and also have tents in the streets that sell cheap yakisoba and cheap shrimp tempura.

Today, japanese food is as popular as churrasco (barbecue), feijoada, pizza. italian massa, american fast food (e.g. McDonnalds), arabian food and brazillian "arroz e feijão" (rice and beans).

But it took a while. The japanese immigration to Brazil begun in 1905, but only now, a hundred years later, the japanese food became popular. I grew up eating it only at home.

What I miss here is Lamen. In São Paulo, that I know, we have only half dozen of restaurants in the japanese Liberty district (bairro da Liberdade).

My point of view of Global warming is that first (what is happening right now) the ice from the poles will melt. In this stage, the planet will still be cold, because when the ice is melting the chill increases, but when the ice is totally melted, the planet will really start to get warm and the temperatures will raise dramatically. It will happen suddenly and it will be very fast.
