@bass4funk

can you tell us why you love guns?

Been hunting with my family since I was 6 years old. I love to hunt, it's a passion of mine, I don't think that's a bad thing, I can't kill a deer with a toothpick, right? I've always been around guns, my father was a collector and I had more than enough experience with them, I taught my kids how to use a rifle, but all in a very responsible manner, all licensed and all legal.

Ah ! At last I understand ! You love killing... This usually starts out with killing small animals and ends up with killing humans... No wonder you're so unpopular on these threads !

@klausdorth

I was going to say much the same thing... but what else can one expect from our Dear Leader ? Talk about an egoist... he lives in a big house with all necessary comforts and "jets" around the world at taxpayer's expense, "giving" money (he doesn't have) to other countries... I feel a "shinzo-attack" coming on...

I hesitated to make a comment but since I notice I'm not the only one to have read "COW" instead of "CROW" (in my case, it seems my "speciality" is very often "misreading" - especially titles...) I'll have to admit I have difficulty in "forgetting" the Kobe incident, especially since I used to live there... As others have said, this guy should be imprisoned for LIFE...

@Pukey2

He may be out of a job by tomorrow

From what I've heard, he hadn't been able to get a job for about 30 years... this was a BIG breakthrough for him... we may not "enjoy" his "act", but I'm sure glad he's not starving... (with all those pineapples... !)

Posted in: Would you rather see a movie that is not in your native language, with subtitles or dubbed into your own language? See in context

Me too ! I agree with all those who prefer subtitles i.e. pretty much all of the above ! Dubbing really can make the meaning "lost in translation" and as others have said, neither the voices nor the words match the originals.

Posted in: Pet pals See in context

Problem is, far too many of them are tied up outside the house - whatever the weather. Usually with a water bowl just "out of reach"... There are SO many of them around this area, barking out of boredom, or because they have nothing to drink, or the food dish is too far away (probably empty anyway). It's too hot in summer and freezing cold in winter...

There ARE "exceptions" to these "rules" but they are few and far between. Dogs ARE "family" and should be treated as such.

Well, I guess something must have "changed" - since they don't even mention it these days (I know because I just came back from Europe).

Posted in: Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been making at least one and sometimes two overseas trips a month over the past few years. Do you think that is too many for a prime minister? See in context

Travelling may be OK - may even help to "open" his one-track mind however, squandering tax-payers money on "loans" to so many different countries, just to make himself "look good", while many people are still living in "temporary housing" in his own country, doesn't look right to me...

Posted in: Diet proposes one-off abdication law for emperor See in context

I just have the feeling it should be the Emperor telling the Government what to do and not the inverse...

As for a "female emperor" I believe they're called Empresses... and they have certainly existed - even in Japan !

Posted in: We don't want to go to an unsafe place. Instead of the relocation, the Tsukiji market should be redeveloped. See in context

I agree ! It has it's "history" where it is now. It really does need refurbishing but instead of "moving to a new place" (if there isn't enough "space" on the ground) build a couple of "floors" on top of it.

Posted in: Elephant kills trainer with trunk at Wakayama zoo See in context

As I mentioned in the article about the monkeys - zoos shouldn't even exist... Train some humans to do "tricks" and make a circus/zoo out of them...

Posted in: Monkey business See in context

I definitely prefer to see the monkeys running around free as we did in Arashiyama ! You just have to be careful to hold tightly onto your bag of "monkey treats" or they'll grab the whole bag ! But that's also because I don't like either zoos or circuses (unless the latter involve ONLY human beings...) and even less animal "safaris"...

I was thinking the exact same thing and (if I remember rightly) there was a place (near Route 20 ?) where they actually made a tunnel for the trains and took away the level-crossing.
