haha, I get that Argentina wants the islands 'back' but do they not realise how ridiculous they look to the rest of the world? They accuse the UK of colonialism while trying to force a piece of land under their control despite the fact the inhabitants have repeatedly stated their desire to remain a British overseas territory, They declare what amounts to economic warfare against the islands by trying to cut the Falkands ships off from the entirety of South America yet are trying to paint the British as the bad 'imperialists' for not putting these people into the hands of such blatant bullies and, perhaps most hilariously of all, their masterstroke to hurt the UK's economy is to deprive their own country of large quantities of tourists. Personally i don't understand how this is still an issue. The UN is very clear on the right to self-determination why has it not simply told Argentina to leave the islands and the islands people alone until a point, a point that after Argentina's behaviour may never come, when the inhabitants decide they want to forge closer relations with Argentina.

Yay, finally something positive about the UK. It seems we have someone or other telling us how terrible this country is on a near daily basis so i'm glad there are still people who recognise our achievements and not just our flaws.

I do forsee 1 problem with this and that is that Britain ,like much of the first world, is a consumer society if people stop buying things they don't need in order to pay off their debt doesn't that just shift the problem rather than fixing it.

Is anyone surprised? a dictatorship that's keen not to give it's own people any ideas and a country which seems to disagree with the west at times just to spite them.

I agree alot of us have things we don't need but while we may not need the lastest and most expensive versions alot of technology like mobile phones and computers are necessary parts of modern life. Also my parents never had any of these luxuries with the exception of a cheap T.V. and they still struggled just to pay their mortgage, gas, electric etc

Until we develop the ability to look directly at peoples memories and thoughts these situations will continue to arise and i agree they can't be locked up just to make someone else feel better if they convict based on shaky evidence they're little better than dictators that lock people up without trial. On the plus side that may not be too far away since technology to do just that is starting to come around although only in it's early stages. p.s. i'm not saying that they're guilty or that they're innocent just that they can't lock them up unless they can prove that prison is where they belong.

'That means households—all of us—paying off the credit card and store card bills'

If people had the money to do that they wouldn't have any debt in the first place everyone i know would love to pay off their debt but they have to use credit cards just to get by. Seriously i'm not quite sure what world this guy lives in but it's certainly not the same one as most of us.

Putin should be careful as the EU has shown when the poor come round with the begging bowl it's the rich that have to fill it or perhaps i should say comparatively rich as few economies are doing well right now.
