There are good numbers of islamic organizations doing charity activities and raising funds based on mosques. Most alarmingly, almost all of the mosques of Japan are managed by Pakistani migrant community increasing the likelihood of funding of extremest sympathizer. Better security agencies beef up scrutinizing fund transfer of each of such organizations.

Some of the key factors can't be replaced with technology or robots no matter how advanced those are such as elderly care, child care, maintaining infrastructures and above all keeping up inflow of tax. Ready to employ type of immigration is impractical in case of Japan due to language barrier. The best option would be welcoming more and more eager international students with scholarships and language, cultural support that will eventually make them adaptable to Japan during their student life.

Posted in: Survey shows most Japanese employees don’t like Western-style work socials See in context

japanese people are not good at ice breaking. Mostly it's the gaijins who take the initiative and then the Japanese counterpart starts conversation for the sake of formality. They prefer the sitting arrangement because it's less challenging which ends up as preplanned conversation.

Posted in: Gov't to step up measures to prevent terrorism in Japan See in context

It may sound racist but the undeniable reality is that only dark skinned foreigners are and will be center of suspicion as a rule of thumb. So far I have talked with foreigners living in Japan, never found a white one having experience of being stopped, because usually westerners are not known for visa overstaying.

Can you remember the widely publicized campaign of "Japan. Thank you" in 2012? Interestingly, that was not intended for the foreigners within Japan only, rather for international community in the world.

Pakistan is declining quickly, it's economy is lagging behind even Bangladesh. It has one of the highest percentage of illiteracy in the world that gives prime hotbed for harboring religious extremists.

Posted in: Japan Inc sounds alarm on consumer spending See in context

It's so true. The Lawson store in my locality closed down though it looked bustling apparently at night. I already witnessed schools being closed in a Tokyo ward and used as community center just for shortage of kids (according to the staffs working there). As consumer base are shrinking so the revenue graph falling, simple and natural effect. To overcome this either you have to embrace skilled immigration or move forward foreign markets. But expecting increased birth rate within Japanese people is quite unrealistic unless something revolutionary change happens in the society.

Posted in: Police in Bangladesh question 4 over killing of Japanese man See in context

It's a failed state ala Somalia, which means it is a breeding ground for religious extremists, in this case Islamic.

After googling about the country, found that for last two decades, Bangladesh economy has been growing consistently at 6% rate, having the foreign reserve second after India in south asia which is higher than Pakistan, export revenue, HDI already higher than Pakistan. Social development index such as hunger, Sanitation, school enrollment, life expectancy are higher than India. Only because of poor diplomacy the country is little-known to developed world and still perceived as ultra impoverished but not that much horrible in reality.

That’s sad but at least benign. Then there’s “Mr Fukami,”39. “I liked her for her strong character,” he says, recalling feelings for his wife earlier in their relationship. Now he wishes he’d read the danger signals better. The “strong character” is diabolic – she douses him with hot water, or throws furniture at him, when he fails to fold a towel to her satisfaction. (Spa! doesn’t give us her story.)

Mr.Fukami might be in the lockup already for DV if he would do the same treatment to his "strong" wife.

In a demonstration, one CommU said to another CommU, "Do you know Denmark?"

It replied: "I love Denmark," to which the first said, "I love Denmark, too."

Curious mind wants to know, why on earth someone would pay about 100,000 yen for each to put up with such robotic chitcat and surprisingly the inventor is suggesting to buy three or four to increase the boredom intensity!!

In this era of smart devices, a startup can easily come up with the idea of talking robots where the "Robot aps" of multiple devices (be it phone or pad) which would communicate more intelligently than these dolls smattering of greetings or repeated agreed replies to make it sound little humanoid.

@Disilusioned, Abe is not visiting India right now, so that news is irrelevant here. There are many Indian investments in Japan specially Indian IT giants already stepped their foot for decades here. A good number of people from other sub-continent countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Nepal are operating their own business in Japan and somehow contributing to the Japanese economy.

Muslims require this extra requirement because as far as I know they are scared to be thrown in the hell if non-halal food is consumed.
