I hope he is not dead. They'll make a martyr. I hope they'll catch him, if never found, they'll make him a legend. Wait a few decades or centuries and they'll him a prophet...

"with the grace of God". Instead of punishing human for their stupidity, he long ago, lost any hope and left us on our own. I hope I'm wrong but it looks like it.

RIPFT: the mini black hole won't be strong enough to anything other than vanishing as quick as the appeared (what I have read). The people who tried to put a halt on the LHC are not from the field (nor do I).

"Sweden, which holds the European Union’s rotating presidency, said the United Nations should reconsider its presence in Geneva, where it employs thousands of people and holds hundreds of conferences each year." Sweden should just shut up. Not in position to give any lessons.

Switzerland is not forbidding Islam nor building expulsion camps for Arabs around the country. Just putting a halt on building minarets.

"limitation on the coexistence of different cultures and religions also endangers our security," Thanks Micheline. OK. Next time I'll vote against the ban for the fear of our security and bend over.

Remember. 57.5% that shows a clear division but an absolute majority.

"U.N. human rights chief Navi Pillay said Sunday’s referendum to outlaw the construction of minarets in Switzerland was the product of anti-foreigner scare-mongering." The same guys whom put Libya at the head of the Human Right Commission. Like Sweden, please shut up.

"That is why the scientists are carefully learning how to run it and make sure all protection systems are working" Some guys claimed the LHC would create mini-black hole that we finally be power full enough to swallow the earth. This theory has been ridiculed.

skipthesong: "Switzerland already has way too many conservative christians" what ? Are you making a reference to Econe?

ProfJuanColePhd: "legitimizing such extremism and Islamophobia is a terrible, terrible shock" that is a problem. People now will try to make a link between a decision we took and Islamophobia. This is not the same.

Foxie: "No more products from Switzerland and Swiss companies, even if it's just a piece of cheese or chocolate."

Good for you!

numbskull: "I think the only compromise I could offer is to have traditional and non-traditional zones in Switzerland."

I know that a ban is extreme. They can build a mosque on the land they bought. The minaret poses me a problem. Ambiguous feeling of being xenophobe without being one. I'm myself a foreigner here.

I knew there will be no pray calls but still doesn't fit. Hard to explain...

Posted in: Swiss ban mosque minarets in surprise vote See in context

numbskull: "Of course they do franz75" Nope. Other countries do want they want in their backyard. If they don't want churches on their land, good for them. It's my backyard and I decided what I want to do with it. I didn't think about other countries and their politics.

WilliB: Showing how powerful, Islam, Christian, Judaism, etc by building big structure are is stupid in my sens.

WayneRooney10: this is not racism. We don't forbid them to be Muslims, close their halal shops or force them to convert.

30061015:jager1:skipthesong:numbskull: other countries has no relevance at all here. The minarets topic has been there for while. I voted against not because I refuse them the right to be Muslim, not because I refuse them to practice their faith but because it just doesn't fit in the landscape. Futile reason maybe. They have plenty of mosques already. I still don't understand why it so necessary for them to have minarets to be integrated.
