It always impresses me just how quickly diplomacy between Japan, South Korea and China descends into childish pettiness.

Especially from China and SK, Japan is the adult in this triangel group.

Posted in: Toyota to receive ¥120 bil subsidy for EV battery investment See in context

Japanese car manufacturers make almost 1/3 of all the global passenger vehicles today, it is a huge and important industry to Japan employing millions of people. And of these vehicles produced more than 97% is ICE cars!!! If Toyota, the leader among Japanese OEMs, and who everybody (Nissan, Honda ec) is following is not turning to EV cars immediately the car industry of Japan will shrink with large economical consequences for Japan!! Toyota don’t see the future, so good some person in the government is trying.

Posted in: Toyota promises more electric models, investment See in context

Too little too late!!!

So in 2030 if Toyota plans to produce the same number of cars as today, about 10mil cars 3.5mil will be BEV, the rest will be ICE and mild Hybrid cars. In 2030 who wants to buy an ICE or Hybrid car?? This cars pollute, will cost more, running and maintenance cost is much higher, and the second-hand value will be lower. This will not be the car the mass market will be looking for which is Toyota's customer base today.

Next year Toyota will have to update its BEV production number if they want to stay in the top position also in 2030. The 3.5mil was updated from 2.5 just some months ago...............

This just shows how corrupt the IOC and the people closely involved with this organization are.

So which language are they going to communicate in the doctors and nurses being flown in for the Olympics? I have not met many doctors or nurses who speak other languages than Japanese. And will they stay for a month or two after the 2 games are finished as the virus effect is normally seen sometimes late? Will they bring equipment as well with them? Hospitals in Tokyo are not far from fully booked with Covid patients.

Corrupt IOC, Japan is not setup for big fast changes so this looks like a Disaster in the Making.

Who is taking the responsibility for the people who will be sick? IOC???

Posted in: Toyota unveils revamped Mirai hydrogen fuel cell car See in context

As the battery technology is evolving rapidly both in price and weight, Hydrogen cars and trucks will not be able to compete in price. Producing Hydrogen is also costly and if not produced by renewable energy the CO2 emission will be too high as CO2 will also be taxed soon in Japan as well. Better to use Hydrogen for large ships, trains and airplanes, and batteries for cars, trucks, and busses. If Toyota and the Japanese government’s long term target is to develop Fuel cell for heavy transportation like ships, trains and airplanes testing it out in Fuel-Cell cars is OK, but if the plan for Hydrogen is small cars like Corollas it will be too expensive. And when people are getting used to charge the EV cars at home over the night who wants to go to a Hydrogen station. A trip into a station always takes longer time then 5min as Fuel-Cell car commercial claims. Just time yourself the next few times, you will be surprised.

Posted in: Chiyoda says hydrogen pilot project begins to fuel power plant See in context

They transport hydrogen, extracted from gas piped directly from liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants, from Brunei in liquefied form at an ambient temperature and pressure.

Sound good, but what happened to the rest of the gas after Hydrogen is extracted ? And the efficiency rate of the extraction? How much energy is needed to make 1KWh?

Adding this numbers, is this really CLEAN?

It will be much better for Japan to make the Hydrogen in Japan from renewable energy which Japan has more then enough of, but will not use for some reason.

I like Asahi to inform for how long they have been playing, how offend, and anybody else in Asahi who play games with staff from the Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office or similar offices.

If we remember back to Carlos Ghone, the Prosecutors denied any leakage to the any newspaper (including Asahi) but it was wet like after a Taifun. So basically everything Asahi reported from that case was a copy-paste from the Prosecutors office.

Asahi, Shame on you!! However, i am sure other main Jp newspapers are in the same game.......

Posted in: Pink signs to mark designated traffic lanes for Olympics See in context

When Oslo and Norway decided not arrange the 2022 Winter Olympic even IOC ask them to do so, among many reason for not doing it was that all IOC member with their drivers should have a special road line to be able to move around in the city. IOC's 7,000 pages requirements of luxurious items including their own drive road line, being treated as Kings and Queens with access to the King and Queen turned the will of the people to arrange the 2022 Winter Olympic.

But knowing the eagerness of some Tokyo and Japan politicians to hoste this 2020 games they have accepted this i can see. Then i can only wonder which other extravagant hospitality demands made by the IOC Tokyo have accepted.

Please show us Tokyo!

The american car makers will not export cars to Japan, if they they thought there was a market for their cars in Japan they would have been here already. A few change in an agreement will not change this as Japan automobile market is pretty open to enter.

Anyway i hope Tesla will speed up their entrance into Japan as we need them to push the JOEMs to release and change to EV cars faster!!

Posted in: Gov't reverses decision on dementia patient targets See in context

If 8% of the population have dementia, that will required at list 8% more of the population's family member to be involved, plus all the healthcare people, so another 8%. So total 24% of the population of Japan in 2025 will somehow be involved in the dementia dilemma. That will be expensive! Why not just go for cure? It will required a "litter" up from capital, but down the road it will be better.

Posted in: Nissan CEO sees no big downside to FCA-Renault merger See in context

If this huge merger goes through, it is Sayonara to Saikawa-san. So this is not good for Nissan's power in the alliance.

However i am impressed how weak Renault is against Nissan at the moment, despite:

Renault have 43% shares in Nissan with voting rights.

Nissan has 15% shares in Renault without voting rights.

France has 15% shares in Renault with double voting rights.

The right person to take this merger through will be Carlos Ghosn looking at his past records.
