The best thing to do is half deport him. Fly over the Pacific, open the door, push him out and see if he can fly.

I surprised they had enough time to shoot the Gorilla. How long was the child in the Gorilla's pen before they shot it?

I think it is good for every world leader to see Hiroshima, especially ones that have the power to push the red button.

Posted in: As a G-7 summit venue, Mie sucks, magazine says See in context

Mie is a nice prefecture in terms of nature, but that is the sort of thing you can really only enjoy on a relaxing, slow moving holiday, which is not what the G7 leaders are on.

rainyday, what do you want the G7 word leaders do? Sit down and talk about the problems of the world or ride a roller coaster at Disneyland or go hiking in the woods?? The site doesn't matter too much as long as it is secured and doesn't cause too much of a hassle for the locals in the host country. Ise resorts being tucked on an island in the corner of Mie is a perfect place.

My in-laws are from Tsu, Mie and I always love visiting. It is a great place for hiking and cycling. It also has some .Ninja sightseeing spots. I think everyone should visit Ise -Shrine once, but best to avoid the tourist trap street that is next to it. Behind Ise-Shrine there are some beautiful roads for cycling.

The comment about Yokkaichi is stupid. Yokkaichi's factories cleaned up many years ago and it is an hours drive from Ise. Can you name a big city that doesn't have an industrial zone an hours drive away?

Abe probably choose Ise because it is easier and cheaper to secure than any other place in Japan. It would cost a lot of money and many people would be an inconvenience to many if the summit was in a big city

Posted in: Obama's Hiroshima trip stirs debate on Truman's fateful choice See in context

h of Hydrogen bombs on each other and in Europe? We might not be here exchanging our thoughts on the internet.

I have been to the Hiroshima Peace Museum and when I entered the first room there is a display on what was Hiroshima like during the war before the bomb was dropped. Looking at the displays in that room, I got the feeling that Hiroshima was deeply involved in the war effort and not an innocent victim. Leaving the museum I got the feeling that war and the use of atomic bombs should be avoided at all cost.

If Hiroshima or Nagasaki didn't get targeted for nuclear destruction, they would have probably be bombed conventionally.. America got very good at carpet bombing, and the destruction in Tokyo was worse than Hiroshima. I'm not sure if links are allowed in the comments, but google and read up on Tokyo firebombing. I would rather be in Hiroshima, than in Tokyo during the firebombing,, at least it is a faster death.

I live in a large condominium complex in Osaka , and recently the NHK collectors have been cute young women. I bet they are better collectors than the yakuza types of the past...

One tactic you can try when a salesman is at your door is quickly tell them you are not interested in what they are offering, but try hard sell them your English lesson. This will guarantee that they won't come back.

I see wrestling all the time. During cleaning time students are all over the school, perhaps the teacher was moderating another part of the school or looking after another student. As someone else says, teachers can't be everywhere.

My wife has gotten into minimalism. She drastically reduced her wardrobe and wants me to do the same. I allowed her to cull my t-shirts and bicycle / hiking wear. It sure makes putting things away easier when you have less things to put away. But I am a pack rat by nature, so it is difficult. She wants to attack my sweaters and sweatshirts next... I am trying to resist because they cost way more than a t-shirt.

Posted in: 80-year-old driver arrested after his car hits, kills 15-year-old girl See in context

This hits home for me...

My mother is only 76 and lives in the suburbs in the States.. She has been in declining health due to diabetes and we had to call the ambulance four times last year due to high blood sugar, she was in extended stays in the intensive care at the hospital. Besides the diabetes, physically she has slowed down and is slow on her feet. And to top that off, she became a problem drinker and dealing with depression since the death of my brother four years ago. Everyone around her, believes she should not drive. When I was home this summer, after my mother's latest trip to the hospital. My siblings thought it would be best to hide the keys and tell her no driving. Well anyways she found them and when she was starting to pull out of the drive way, I ran behind the car to block her from leaving. She was very pissed at me, but I knew the true reason she wanted to go alone driving... to buy another bottle of vodka.

Last month, she found the keys again and was driving to a doctor's appointment.. she ended up hitting a brick wall of the clinic and totaling her car. She had about 50 meters to stop, but she never did. Luckily, she only hurt herself mildly and didn't kill anyone else.

The policeman that responded to the accident, also responded to one of my mother's high blood sugar emergencies. He wrote up my mother and requested that her license be taken away. All of my siblings are relieved that she no longer has a license.. but she still wants to drive. She is telling everyone that all she needs to get her license back is to get an eye test. The scary thing about it is on one of her good days, she could probably convince the registry of motor vehicles to give her license back. But sadly, there have been more bad days than good ones.

I agree the government should try to make the 202o Olympics as safe as possible. All Olympics and World Cups are huge target for terrorist

But Abe and the government should try to make a Japan a safer country for its most vulnerable.. its children. A day doesn't go by without reading something terrible that happens to children by their parents.. A good start is try to get rid of the stigma of adoption...

For some people shop lifting is a disease, like being an alcoholic. I grew up in a comfortable neighborhood in the States. Many years ago my mother and a woman in the neighborhood went to the mall to go shopping. The neighbor got caught for shoplifting...she didn't need anything that she stole. Her husband was an engineer, and they lived in the biggest house in the neighborhood. She was also the daughter of a mayor of a big Asian city.
