What a farce. It was totally ignorant to impose this meaningless order for dubious and fraudulent public relations purposes only to be made infinitely worse by stopping it 11 days later boastfully lying about it's success.
The US military colonization and subjugation of Okinawa should have ended long ago. Their continued presence serves no legitimate strategic or tactical purpose that couldn't be handled by other methods that do not involve taking up vast percentages of area and personnel in a very small island. Their overburdening presence actually incentivized Okinawa being a target rather than a deterrent as some have commented.

Sorry to hear of the injuries - I wonder if perhaps they were tourists or fools? I miss the occasional typhoon, enjoyable for several reasons not the least of which was a much needed day off.
