You would think that employers would check thoroughly regardless of it being required by law or not

Interesting thing is, most of the foreigners i know are cautious when dealing with another foreiger

They usually don't trust them, which is also a blatant practice of racial profiling

If you don't have the luxury of getting the recommended number, i guess you can make it up by the quality of your sleep (up to a certain extent)

I understand what everyone is saying here about EngRish in Japan

But

There is no deep explanation behind this mistake

It's really just a typo error (plus the negligence of the person who approved it for printing)

Posted in: Official Tokyo Marathon T-shirts get recalled for English spelling mistake See in context

I think it was just a simple typo error as "u" is beside "i"

Unfortunately, no one double checked before publishing

The フィ explanation is ridiculous

These trainees should just go to western countries where they are very much welcome and will be fairly treated

You have to wonder if Japan was their last choice for many of them.

Japan is their only choice

Even though there are (allegedly) "abused" trainees, the majority are happy that this kind of opportunity is available to them

I don't know any Western country that accept this kind of workers

Legally, at least

Parents are expected to look into these things before moving in to a foreign country and should factor it when they make their decision to take their kids with them

If it doesn't fit your principles, don't move

Posted in: Vietnamese trainees told to undergo contraception to work in Japan See in context

Sad reality is, once you become a business owner, your priority changes (and your values)

All my Western friends who run their own businesses (mostly eikaiwa schools) were the first ones to complain about these things you are all talking about in this thread until they became business owners and turned in to someone they used to hate

They cut corners, avoid hiring females, hire the cheapest Filipino they can find, etc etc

This is a universal thing

There are always desparate people willing to accept anything that business owners take advantage of

Posted in: Osaka nursery going extra mile to stop Vietnamese kids falling behind See in context

Good effort but not necessarily something the others should or must also do

Based on my personal experience, my advice is, parents should worry about their kids speaking their own (foreign) native language more than the Japanese language.

It's common to see kids who end up struggling to communicate in their parents native language as they grow up.
