If you want to debate the facts , contact the jgov dept of health….
Perhaps you should take your own advice. According to another article posted today the jgov says there is plenty of room in the hospitals if needed.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said the occupancy rate of hospital beds has been rising but remains low on the whole, as are the numbers of deaths and people with severe symptoms.
Mild cases do not require medical supervision no matter how much you want to believe they do.

are now either checked in to a hotel or in the hospital
I'm sure i'm going to regret wading into a debate with you, but have you considered that many of the people in the hotels are not in need of constant medical care, but rather are isolating to stop to spread amongst their family. In any case, I guarantee you they are not under constant care, nor do they need constant care. If they did, they would be in an actual hospital.

The media won't mention the name of the religious group, but they will tell you how to make the weapon. Bravo.

Shocking and sad news whether you like his politics or not.

If you believe that omicron is causing 90% hospitalization then you are beyond help. Before you point me to the links, I checked them. This tells me, the "hospitalizations" number is likely bogus i.e. what does hospitalized really mean in this statistic? And it tells me the active cases are dramatically underreported, because people can't be bothered with a PCR test for a sniffle or sore throat. So, the is greatly overstated, and the denominator is greatly understated. Result, your stat bears no resemblance on reality.

Bugger that. It's not our fault Japan has stuffed up its electricity supply.
No it's not our fault. But if the grid buckles and the lights and ac go out, you're not going to have any choice are you.

One thing he said was that Omicron is not a variant of Delta or Alpha or Beta, but appears to be a variant of the original Wuhan strain.
I'm generally not into conspiracies, but one interesting line of thought I've heard discussed is that the original Wuhan strain was likely an accidental lab leak and the omicron strain may be an intentional lab leak as a way to solve the problem. In other words, it's a natural vaccine for the original lineage. Although, obviously not truly natural if indeed from a lab. Point is, it made the earlier more dangerous variants obsolete. Not saying I believe it, but food for thought.

Here's an analogy.
But at the end of the day, it’s only rain. Most people will simply dry off and get on with life soon enough.

Seems like BA.4 / BA.5 having a go in Japan now. Thankfully although highly infectious, the experience of other countries suggest severity is no worse than earlier omicron variants.

Yep. I concur. It is hot.

Seems you hang out with a particularly unlucky bunch of people.

The fundamental case for bitcoin has never been stronger. Not a buyer here as could still get a lot more ugly. But wouldn't be a seller here either.

A ridiculously low number, reflecting the stupidity of the idea.

This will kill off crypto
But it will be great for bitcoin.

no they aren’t.
Yes, they are. Not all 1/4, but many are less. One example is acetaminophen (tylenol/panadol). In Australia, the standard tablet is 500mg, and advice on the pack is 1-2 tablets up to 4 times a day. In Japan, the standard tablet is 300mg, recommended dose of 1 tablet up to 3 times a day. Huge difference.

These particular rashes are not autoimmune rashes.
-2 ( +1 / -3 )
These 'rashes' by the way are not rashes but autoimmune reactions related to the vaccine.
False. All rashes are an immune response of some sort, including these vaccine induced rashes. These particular rashes autoimmune rashes.

At the same time, anybody who saw those pictures and decided to opt out should not have been punished or ridiculed in anyway.
I agree that everyone should have the right to chose. But who was punished or ridiculed? In Japan the vaccines were completely voluntary. Anyone who chose not to get it could keep that to themselves if they wanted to. Anyone who felt punished or ridiculed should simply stop reading internet forums. Bunch of crazies on both sides to be found there!

Informed consent means these people had a right to know but weren't told.
Everyone was told before. It was part of the informed consent people agreed to before getting the vaccines. In the large center in Tokyo where I got my shots they even had pictures of the rash, so you knew what it was if you got it.

Great, that the severe patients remain so low. Very clear omicron is a different beast to the earlier variants and far less worrying.
1 ( +7 / -6 )
The symptoms were mild and not considered a contraindication
Translation, it is nothing to worry about. Even if you get the rash, you can still get the second shot.

So the only way to visit Japan as a tourist is to be part of a tour. Which will then be cancelled if someone tests positive. Why would anyone sign up for such a ridiculous scheme. I don't understand the logic of this program... what are they trying to achieve with these silly rules? Are they trying to stop covid from getting into Japan? New flash, it's already here!

What’s not over?

With something like 90% of the population vaccinated and with the vaccines somewhat limited ability to reduce infection with omicron, are you really going to tell me that if the remaining unvaccinated suddenly decided to get vaccinated it will shift the outcome of the pandemic? That is the point of my question to Steven.

characterized as a valid surrogate for protection
Like I said, repeatedly, let’s see some real data conferring actual efficacy. Surrogates don’t cut it anymore.

So reassuring that the increase in people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo was 0% today. Yesterday’s 50% increase was very alarming!
