Posted in: What cold weather does to the body and how to protect yourself this winter See in context

It would really hep with dressing appropriately if every Japanese business and shop didn't have the heating way too high all the time. It causes sweating when you are dressed for the cold weather outside and is just damn uncomfortable. I never wear heattech cos it's just a death sentence with the heating

I always thought dark matter was a bit of a placeholder theory. It'd be nice to know what is really going on

Posted in: Japanese gov't appeals for calm as panic rice buying continues See in context

This is just wrong. The shortage has been caused by deliberate reduction in crop growth to aritificially inflate the prce of domestic grown rice. They made their own bed, let them eat no rice in it

Posted in: Robert Downey Jr announces shock Marvel return at Comic-Con See in context

This such a desperate move by Marvel. It's so funny. It doesn't matter that they are the biggest movie franchise ever. They still make the same plays as a small franchise. He's almost certainly going to be a Tony varient. Tying his story to Iron Man is a good move for the MCU but if they undo our Tony's backstory and make him a villain that is gonna mess things up.

It took four years to figure this out? It was pretty obvious while it was happening.

No, of course he doesn't. You let this happen and you'll only get criminals as presidents seeking immunity after taking turns to runt he country into the ground. Sorry, below the ground.

Posted in: Blinken urges Israel and Hamas to move ahead with cease-fire deal See in context

What's the point? Israel has already said they won't honour any ceasefire and go ahead with their plans to continue the invasion regardless. There's only so many times you can wag your finger at someone who keeps doing misdeeds to before everyone loses respect for you, but America wants everything Israel has to offer so we're just gonna let this genocide happen until it's all done and a people and culture are wiped off the map I guess.

Posted in: Digitalization drive proving tough for Japanese school teachers See in context

Just give up. The ojiichans and old boys don't want it and as long as one teacher rejects it the school won't take to it. Once they have gone then there's a chance but this stubborn generation is causing all the problems and living the longest.

Posted in: Award-winning author's AI use revelation roils Japan's literary world See in context

I get the concern but it's a ridiculous argument if you ask me. People are going to use AI, even writers. As long as they are infusing any AI input with their own ideas and creativity then there is no problem. I think if someone published something that was entirely or mostly written by AI we would know something is off and it wouldn't be popular. It's not like AI art which blatantly rips off artists' work.

Posted in: Netflix unveils 2024 slate led by sci-fi from 'Thrones' creators See in context

The Three Body Problem books are my favourite SF trilogy; they blew my mind many times and cured a lot of my existential dread, so if there is one thing that scares me more than the insignificance of humanity in the face of the immense, cold infinity of the cosmos it is the Games of Thrones writers making the TV series.

Different day, same old racist rubbish. They'd be applauding her if she was a winner of the olympics or boosted the economy. I wouldn't validate any opinion from anyone who is still on Twitter.
