Posted in: Why do Japanese celebrities featured in photos or stories on Japan Today frequently come in for a lot of derision from some readers? See in context
talented people are rewarded for excellence in their field. on the other hand "tarento" are hand-picked by agencies and marketing types who know exactly how to extract the knee-jerk response from the target audience- "ah kawaii!!" "oishii soo!!" "EEEHHH!!" most viewers, in japan and everywhere else on the earth, are not discerning and only want to be carried away by the immediate sensation. others will think about the drawbacks, how the content reflects on the human race, as supposedly the most intelligent form of life in the universe as we know it, and criticise.

let's hope it gets better. the first 2 episodes of season 6 haven't resolved much after the jumbles the plot was left in at the end of season 5, and most of it is due to this guy wondering around jabbering in japanese. his character is a bit of a joke and it looks like most cynical types are right in speculating that the producers inserted his character to boost profits from the japanese market. he should stick to doing what japanese entertainers do best; advertising

no wonder japan is referred to the Galapagos Islands of the marketing world. only in such a place could such talentless posers be rewarded for their lame brand of "entertainment". their tough-boy image is utterly ridiculous. way to go boys!

how does selling yourself and the image of yourself for any advertiser that will pay you make someone original? This is the heart of the japanese entertainment industry. everything and everyone is for sale and as such none of the players have any credibility. they are dessicated advertising vehicles without a shred of artistic endeavor or creativity. shameless posers. GO ANNA!
