If he’s punching a 10yo girl in the face then i hate to think what the mother has been through….

Posted in: Japan society on transgender issues to drop 'disorder' from name See in context

’mental disorder’ seemed to be the correct term from everything I’ve read.

Posted in: China demands Japan start Fukushima treated water compensation system See in context

I used to work in China whilst living in Japan, just thinking about it gives me that nasty horrible taste in my mouth that I used to get breathing in my first lungful of polluted air when the plane doors opened. When will China pay Japan/Korea/Taiwan etc for the air pollution?

Posted in: Couple sent to prosecutors after unvaccinated dog injures 7 See in context

The last rabies case in Japan was 1957 but dogs are still required to have the vaccine. Our fit and healthy Jack Russel Terrier had his jab in the autumn, he was dead 6 hours later.

Both of my kids have a similar amount of money in their bank, neither of them know about it & neither of them have access to it. I thought that was the norm…

Posted in: Japan eyes up to 800,000 more skilled foreign workers over next 5 years See in context

Japan should look at Europe as well as Lebanon, Egypt etc and take note that they should only let in atheists…..at worst there’s one particular religion that should never be let in.

Posted in: Woman returns home from work to find man hiding under her bed See in context

Strange so many people comment about not locking the door….we never lock our cars or house, pretty common in the countryside.

Posted in: 6-year-old girl fractures skull in skiing accident in Nagano See in context

My kids used to be embarrassed as they were the only kids wearing helmets when snow boarding. There’s a lot more kids wearing them nowadays but still not enough.

Posted in: Woman, boyfriend arrested after her 5-year-old daughter dies from hypothermia See in context

I thought I was against the death penalty…..having read this I’m not so sure, I might even volunteer to pull the trap door myself.

Posted in: Israel and Hamas making progress in cease-fire and hostage-release talks, officials say See in context

Interesting how SA is so vocal when it’s Israel yet the deaths of a similar number & displacement of over 7 million people in Sudan doesn’t worry them at all. SA government is racist to the core…

Posted in: Many Japanese outside major urban areas do not engage with foreigners: survey See in context

Surely depends which ‘type’ of foreigner?! If you’ve lived in shizuoka near the large population from a certain South American country then speaking from experience I can say that you wouldn’t want any ‘foreigners’ living near you. If it’s your big standard English teacher then most people wouldn’t have any problems at all.

‘I don’t remember’…..sounds like an old Japanese man rather than a foreigner.

Posted in: Investigators probe conflicting reports on Tokyo airport crash See in context

I’ve listened to the ATC recordings several times. The ATC communication was poor to say the least. The male ATC did not use the term ‘hold short’ or ‘line up and wait’ which are standard terms used. The ATC should also have had a warning of an impending collision yet they issued to warning to JAL, dubious to say the least.

No helmet, probably no lights and by the sounds of it going across the road in front of a car….arrest the parents for neglect.

Posted in: Bodies of 4 elderly hikers found near mountain trail in Tochigi Prefecture See in context

I work about 5mins from where that photo was taken, it was about 7deg yesterday afternoon and the winds were horrendous. The bad weather had been forecast for days, nobody should have left their cars let alone started hiking up.

Posted in: Man arrested for abusing 4-year-old daughter See in context

Wow, I work in a tourist location and have seen a mother actually punch her daughter in the face…..I was stopped from intervening because it would ‘look bad on the company’…..if they’re going to arrest this guy (rightly) then they’re going to be very busy as I see that more than once a week where I work.

Posted in: FIFA head Infantino says Women's World Cup breaks even but plays down calls for equal prize money See in context

It should be equal, the women take home over four times the amount the men take home when broken down as a percentage from the amount the World Cup earns. The men need a massive increase.

Posted in: Number of teachers quitting for mental health reasons hits record high in Japan See in context

Doesn’t surprise me. When my son was having issues with a kid at school I went in to see his teacher, the guy was covered in bite marks down his arms. He explained they were from the ‘problem child’ in the class and there’s nothing he or the school could do about it…..he was getting bitten every day drying to stop the child from attack other kids. Every day of that would force you down the path towards a mental break down.

Posted in: Japanese TV issues heatstroke alert, says to avoid exercise, but keeps showing high school baseball game See in context

If his body temp was seriously measured at 45deg Celsius then the coaches/organisers should be investigated and charged…..that is criminal to let a child/minor in your care get into that condition.

Is he stupid? That’s not how it works, people will pay what it’s worth…not what HE thinks it’s worth. Not that many people are interested to start with, add to that the time difference and even less people will be watching.

Posted in: Ramen noodle shop owner fatally shot in Kobe See in context

Used to live in Nagata, lovely place & lovely people but the yaks were everywhere. At a restaurant we used to visit regularly I was told it’s ok to park my car in the road, 100% I won’t get a ticket. The owner eventually told me he paid the yaks who paid the police not to give tickets outside restaurants they were “taxing”….
