I wonder how many of the people that complained live in a house blocking the view for others….

I don’t have a problem with them catching & eating them…..we’re emptying the oceans of everything else but don’t make up rubbish reasons for doing it. If you’re killing then to eat them then just say that. The only problem with the ‘ecosystem’ is humans, it’s not the whales that need culling to help the ecosystem.

That poor father will have nightmares for the rest of his life having found his daughter and grandson dead in his house.

It’s amazing how small they are, we had one in the garden last week….it wasn’t taller than the Doberman hot on its heels chasing it out of the garden. We hardly used to see them until about 3-4 years ago but now we see them every spring & autumn.

Posted in: Locals in central Japan near Mount Fuji count on UFO craze for tourism See in context

Maybe they should whack a screen up all around town so that Mt Fuji can’t be seen, it’ll save the hassle in the future if they get too many tourists.

What's the problem with reporting it?

No problem with reporting it unless it was only reported as she was from the Philippines . Seems strange that it was reported when the news story posted here on May 7th at 5am deliberately omitted the fact the police were looking for two Brazilians. This ladies nationality added nothing to the story/article.

What does her nationality have to do with the incident?

I have 3 species of snake in my garden that I see regularly….never once have I called the police about it, might give it a go next time.

10 years per victim would have been a better sentence.

Imagine if this had been a Japanese person doing the same in China for ‘a bit of fun’…..that ‘fun’ would have ended up in prison.

Posted in: 25-year-old man arrested over 2 burnt bodies found in Tochigi See in context

@clippetyClop

It’s the river bank right next to the ‘Nasu-Kasumigajo Golf hotel resort’ in Iono. Countryside for sure but the mountains the other side of the IC is way quieter.

@redemption

‘I find it very interesting that the murderers drove 2.5 hours into the deep woods to dump the bodies’

it was not ‘deep woods’ it was about 15mins from the IC and on the edge of a river where people walk daily, I walk my dog there daily. 20-30mins from the IC in the opposite direction they’d have been in the mountains with hardly anyone around. They’re either stupid, or wanted the bodies to be found…..or both.

They were notified of a potential problem in January but waited until a few confirmed deaths before making an announcement at the end of March. Clever. Management has a degree of blame in any recent deaths.

I used to work in China whilst living in Japan, just thinking about it gives me that nasty horrible taste in my mouth that I used to get breathing in my first lungful of polluted air when the plane doors opened. When will China pay Japan/Korea/Taiwan etc for the air pollution?

The last rabies case in Japan was 1957 but dogs are still required to have the vaccine. Our fit and healthy Jack Russel Terrier had his jab in the autumn, he was dead 6 hours later.

Japan should look at Europe as well as Lebanon, Egypt etc and take note that they should only let in atheists…..at worst there’s one particular religion that should never be let in.

Posted in: Israel and Hamas making progress in cease-fire and hostage-release talks, officials say See in context

Interesting how SA is so vocal when it’s Israel yet the deaths of a similar number & displacement of over 7 million people in Sudan doesn’t worry them at all. SA government is racist to the core…

Posted in: Many Japanese outside major urban areas do not engage with foreigners: survey See in context

Surely depends which ‘type’ of foreigner?! If you’ve lived in shizuoka near the large population from a certain South American country then speaking from experience I can say that you wouldn’t want any ‘foreigners’ living near you. If it’s your big standard English teacher then most people wouldn’t have any problems at all.

Posted in: Investigators probe conflicting reports on Tokyo airport crash See in context

I’ve listened to the ATC recordings several times. The ATC communication was poor to say the least. The male ATC did not use the term ‘hold short’ or ‘line up and wait’ which are standard terms used. The ATC should also have had a warning of an impending collision yet they issued to warning to JAL, dubious to say the least.
