Posted in: Japan says S Korean claim over radar lock-on baseless; breaks off defense talks See in context

Until South Korea apologizes sincerely for this and pays reparations, all discussions on the supposed wartime comfort workers issue should be shelved indefinitely

Posted in: Ghosn again asks for bail; promises not to flee, pay for security guards See in context

this part hasn't exactly been confirmed yet, now has it?

Neither has his innocence, yet you would think he was Jesus himself judging by the fawning comments here by fanboys proclaiming his innocence and talking of delusional conspiracy theories. Surely we're not engaging in hypocrisy right?

Are we supposed to feel sorry for him?? You commit the crime, you do the crime. Do not release him Japan

Posted in: Ghosn re-arrested for aggravated breach of trust See in context

His biggest regret is that he got caught in the first place with all his money thieving. This will set back the plight of the foreign CEO or manager in Japan by a decade or so I would assume. Thanks for that Ghosn..

Renault has always been the weakest link in this auto alliance, so it's good to hear that this leacher will finally be culled. Good riddance to Renault and Ghosn

Glad to hear this criminal is arrested. How astonishingly disrespectful and spiteful he must be to his own employees at Renault and Nissan.. He is done

Having a kid is no free pass to commit crime, and in fact parents should be punished far worse than non-parents due to their additional damage and burden caused to their dependant kids.

They should be permanently financially penalised too to support the kid their parents' shortcomings

Posted in: AI robots to help teach English in 500 classrooms next year See in context

A lot of people here ridiculing the idea of AI and tech playing a part in education. Reminds me of the whingeing taxi drivers put out of business by Uber, the hotel owners savaged by AirBnB, and conservative workers who can't adapt to the modern economy.

You can't fight progress, especially when it's technological progress. AI will replace humans in education, there is nothing anyone can do about that.

Whether those who are affected most by this change spend their time whingeing and complaining about change like conservatives, or adapting and re-educating like free-marketers, will determine their competence in today's economy

Posted in: Emperor expresses deep remorse; Abe vows never to repeat horrors of war See in context

Abe sent a ritual offering to Tokyo's controversial Yasukuni Shrine for war dead, but did not visit in person out of apparent consideration for ties with Seoul and Beijing.

Very classy by Abe for being so selfless and mindful of Japan's immature neighbours, but it's an insult to the nation for him not to visit Yasukuni in person. He better not miss next year otherwise my vote will be going elsewhere
