Posted in: Power line trouble seen as possible cause of Okinawa castle fire See in context

This is the third time I've seen this happen now. Bad wiring going into a building. Really kind of odd but maybe it's a weather stress point.

Whatever the reason if they can put on the uniform and do a good job they deserve some respect. I agree that having more women as cops would be a breakthrough in terms of treatment of sexual assault victims too.

Posted in: Ex-Nissan boss Ghosn served 4th arrest warrant; calls it 'outrageous' See in context

This whole thing is just casting the Japanese criminal justice system and the Nissan senior management as a farce. I can't believe they're pushing this so much. What a joke.

Posted in: Australian PM blasts Erdogan for 'reckless', 'vile' Christchurch comments See in context

It sounds more like Erdogan is trying to instigate hate crimes while pandering to his Islamic base. He's as bad as any other populist politician you care to name. Australia might consider bringing their ambassador home for a few days for consultations.

Good, as well they should. NK isn't going to change without pressure applied.

Posted in: Vietnamese workers, streaming to Japan, face risks as labor system opens up See in context

I'm not too worried about the currency the fee was paid in but I have to agree that recruiters who charge the person and not the company are dodgy as sin. Sounds like a perfect way to end up nearly a slave.

Saikawa should remember what's good for the Ghosn is good for the Japanese execs too.

Posted in: Japan to develop air-to-ship long-range cruise missiles See in context

I think Abe realizes that Japan can no longer rely on the USA for all its defense. Not only is there the issue of the US and Japan not agreeing on something, there's the other possibility of a multi-pronged attack by China and NK at the same time, which would put a lot of pressure on the US to respond alone. Think Taiwan and SK at the same time. Better to have the capability and never use it. Peace through superior firepower.

Wait, are you saying that JT comments are good for your brain?

I can't disagree that Alphabet and FB are monopolies and should be broken up. Privacy laws need to be tightened too. But I doubt there will be any action, just more window dressing....

Let the third fatty pitch his hissy fit, it's not as though he's going to be able to do much. Of course they are rebuilding their one launch facility, so I suppose there will be rockets over Japan soon as the whining continues. But that will just bring more sanctions.

Posted in: New bill to ban drones over Olympic venues, military sites See in context

While drones over military bases is believable why ban drones? On vacation at a park one year I saw a kid in a wheelchair using a drone to go places he couldn't. Does he rate a drone?

I don't know about racist so much but birds of a feather flock together. You can say the same thing about most everybody in DC.

If you can't say yes it means no. And yeah, their licenses should be taken and then the trial and jail. Apologies don't count here.

The Odakyu Line is always good. Gets crazy crowded at Sagami Ono. Odawara is coo. But one question about the article. Why would you take a cab from Shinjuku station to the Hyatt? It's not that far to walk.

The olympics has a history of bribery and corruption. Just bow deeply, apologize, and get away with it.

Posted in: Do you think Nissan's sales will suffer as a result of former chairman Carlos Ghosn's prolonged detention in Japan? See in context

Nissan cars don't have the reliability of Honda or Toyota and they tend to suck gas. On the other hand with used car expenses so high in Japan reliability isn't such a concern. But I'm not much interested in their cars anyway.

This constant bickering is exactly what China wants and Moon seems to support it with the antics. I can't imagine what they'll be saying when NK starts being belligerent again. You should remember who your friends are.

No. There is no rule of law in China. The communist party can grab anything they want, whenever they want.

China is well aware of the use of backdoors in code to use for espionage. With what the government is doing to their own citizens with the use of tech and what they are doing in the south china sea and the bluff and bluster about Taiwan there is no way any western country should allow a Chinese company to set up IT infrastructure.
