I guess her customers had no fear of being arrested? Or did they like being hand cuffed?

The olympics has a history of bribery and corruption. Just bow deeply, apologize, and get away with it.

Posted in: Do you think Nissan's sales will suffer as a result of former chairman Carlos Ghosn's prolonged detention in Japan? See in context

Nissan cars don't have the reliability of Honda or Toyota and they tend to suck gas. On the other hand with used car expenses so high in Japan reliability isn't such a concern. But I'm not much interested in their cars anyway.

I just don't know what to say any more. Except I wish I had enough money to primary Trump. Although I might be too coherent for his cohort to vote for.

Glad it will be a big send off. The movies were really good and the cameo in Dead Pool was excellent.

This constant bickering is exactly what China wants and Moon seems to support it with the antics. I can't imagine what they'll be saying when NK starts being belligerent again. You should remember who your friends are.

(isn't it the same in China ?).

No. There is no rule of law in China. The communist party can grab anything they want, whenever they want.

I have to love this as the two fight. Where will it end? Are they really both that self important? Yeah, don't answer that.

Posted in: Many Japanese firms have no plans to strengthen governance after Ghosn arrest: survey See in context

They all do it. Ghosn was just singled out because he disturbed the "natural" order. Get him out of Nissan and everything will be fine again.

I really don't expect any progress so I suppose I won't be disappointed.

Posted in: Canada says it won't be deterred by Chinese pressure See in context

China is well aware of the use of backdoors in code to use for espionage. With what the government is doing to their own citizens with the use of tech and what they are doing in the south china sea and the bluff and bluster about Taiwan there is no way any western country should allow a Chinese company to set up IT infrastructure.

Posted in: Top U.S. Navy officer urges China to avoid confrontations See in context

Certainly 30 years ago the hope was that China would become a modern power that would work withing the rules of conduct that has kept peace, for the most part, for 70 years. Instead we've got a bully in the neighborhood with a huge chip on their collective shoulder. That's not going to work, as Japan and Germany both found out. The sad part is that the West has given up so much of their economic clout to help China out and this is the thanks we get. I hope it doesn't get worse than it is.

Posted in: Trump stops Pelosi from using military plane for overseas trip in shutdown fight See in context

I think all politicians should fly cattle class, stand in TSA lines, and eat nothing but fast food. They shouldn't have high class health care for life and they shouldn't have paychecks until the shutdown is over.

Every crook proclaims their innocence even from prison. Until the trial there's not enough facts to really say what's going on.

Posted in: China condemns Trudeau's remarks about Canadian's death sentence See in context

If this had started out as a death penalty then it's China's affair. Since the Chinese court decided to up the ante to death AFTER the Canadian's arrested Meng and have also detained two other Canadians for improbable reasons they are obviously just putting pressure on Canada rather than seeking justice.

I'm not sure Brexit can be stopped at this point. It seems that neither Labour or the Tories have any idea what do to next. But whatever happens I'm sure Britain will muddle through. Always have. Brexit isn't the end of the world no matter what the press moans about.

Joe, I guess you didn't go to a party school. Engineering school sure wasn't but we knew which colleges to drop in on too. There will always be men and women who like to bed hop and there are going to be schools where there's more drinking than studying.
