Posted in: Japanese schools losing their pools due to rising maintenance costs and aging facilities See in context

Most schools don't maintain the water over winter they cover them up and the water turns all green or they actually empty the pool. Then they have to hire people to fix it / fill it all just before summer... They do the same thing with ponds in parks.... just turn off all the water.... if they actually took care of the pool year round instead of thinking it doesn't need it because no one will use it they would save money.

@DaveAllTogether: seriously? Read up, Musk stayed out of it after repeatedly being asked to help. He only stepped in when one diver died and was continuously encouraged to help all the way up to walking into the cave. I don't understand why it is cool to bash on someone that was trying to help saved lives. This isn't about ego it was about helping kids.

@Thunderbird2: Read up, the "head" British diver wanted to be the hero and write a book about it. He told Musk to shove it where the sun don't shine (quote) rather than kindly saying "thanks for your help, I don't think your idea will work"....

The diver is way off, the entire reason Musk said what he said was because the British diver told him to shove his submarine up his ... The media loves to report half the facts.

@maybeperhapsyes: Driving, or riding in your case, is not a right it is a privilege in Japan. No party in an accident is 100% at fault. The logic is that if you were not on the road you would have not hit their van. Even if you ran into a parked car if the parked car was not there you would not have hit it. More than likely you had to pay for an entirely new part as paint touch up and smash repair places don't exist in Japan.

Mori has turned down suggestions of switching the games to October when temperatures are cooler. The 1964 Tokyo Olympics were held in October.

WHY? What is the problem? Why can't this one person allow Oct?

@Sneezy: Quite simply, why not? If I think spaghetti is evil and people come to the stadium knowing I will be talking about evil spaghetti they can really complain. Just like if they don't want to listen to this guy (don't blame them) just block him.
