Taiwan is part of China as stated in its constitution and passport, and therefore, there is no 'violation' of its airspace.

If US does not want to risk a war, then it will continue to recognize 1C2S.

Trump is the epitome of the worst American stereotypes - ignorant, narrow minded, arrogant, and self absorbed, it's all about me, me, me.

The sooner this imbecilic, narcissistic sociopath is removed from office, the safer the world will be.

Yet Trump and majority of white Americans wouldnt be in their position of privilege and vastly unearned wealth had it not been for their forebears 'invading' the US and other parts of the world to slaughter innocent people and exploit their wealth and resources.

Trump and those who support him dont seem to realize, nor want to acknowledge, that theyre direct beneficiaries of 'illegal immigration' starting with the mass migration of Europeans to US at the turn of the century. Many of whom required nothing but caucasian features which entitled them to a plot of land, slaughtering the natives indiscriminately, and horde as much natural resources as they could find.

Posted in: New Zealand PM says her country 'undeniably' racist See in context

Racism exists everywhere but it manifests itself in more violent ways in predominantly western countries.

No other developed or even less developed countries, particularly in SE/E Asia, have hate groups openly harassing/assaulting people like they do in US/UK/EU/AUS.

Such behavior has gone on for decades and while not everyone in west is guilty of it, too many are which emboldens many more to act out in racist ways.

US has a cultural problem that it is unwilling to address - that of condoning and enabling violence for the slightest provocations.

Too many Americans think it is their right to react to any perceived threat with overwhelming violence. The result is 'stand your ground' laws giving American citizens in many states the right to shoot anyone for the most trivial reason and walk away without facing criminal charges.

This high tolerance for violence and easy access to guns in US, creates an environment where children are desensitized to gun violence and while often parroting the gun fanaticism of their parents.

That Trump became president despite overwhelming number of US voters against him is unfair.

That a minority of US voters, largely from states that contribute relatively little to US economy or society, were able to overrule the majority from states that contribute the most is unfair.

That Americans have to be subjected to daily news drama about the petulant, narcissistic, and incompetent behavior of someone who holds most powerful office in the world is unfair.

Thankfully Trump's single term in office cant end soon enough...

Japan doesnt have the natural resources let alone ample supply of land to sustain economic growth comparable US/CAN/AUS.

In contrast, American Rachel wouldn’t think twice of, for example, gently chiding someone for stepping in front of her in line or giving her bad service in a restaurant.

Americans, along with British and Aussies seem to be the most vocal anywhere they go, quick to create drama and become confrontational at the slightest 'perceived' offense.

It's probably no wonder that this aggressive behavior likely results in them having the highest rates of heart disease.

Considering that much of the world is constantly bombarded with western media promoting Euro-centrism idealizing European culture and standards of beauty, this poster is rather benign.

NZ2011, sandiegolv

It seems making your own presumptions about Asians is ok just not the other way around?

Bottomline is gaijin are treated far better in Japan than Japanese/Asians are in your own country. Look up incidents of physical/verbal assault by whites against Asians in US/EU/AUS and try to find the same for gaijin in Japan.

Posted in: Foreigners in Japan face significant levels of discrimination, survey shows See in context

Why don't they have a programme about non-Japanese who live and work in Japan? If more Japanese people could see how well many of us gaijin fit in and contribute to Japanese society, maybe there'd be a bit less discrimination

Simple fact is that many gaijin, even after living in Japan for decades, refuse to fit in nor adopt local customs. A lot of them dont even speak Japanese yet are married to locals. They far outnumber those that try to fit in and respect the culture.

On the other hand, gaijin are often featured on Japanese programming far more often than Japanese/Asians are in western media. Why is that? Certainly they contribute just as much if not more, and in my experience, try a lot harder than their western counterparts to adapt and not be a 'squeaky wheel.'

How much programming in your country is devoted to Japanese/Asian expats?

Posted in: Japanese tourists in flu masks frighten British supermarket shoppers See in context

It's amusing to hear how gaijin often try to rationalize Japanese behavior through a western lens.

In their eyes, surgical masks couldnt possibly help to prevent the spread of disease nor could so many Japanese be wearing them to prevent the spread of illness. Why? Because it simply wouldnt happen for either reasons in their home country so why would Japan be any different.

With that perspective, gaijin reveal much about themselves and project their own faults by insinuating that the Japanese are being shy and anti-social. Maybe true for some Japanese but most?

There's a reason surgical masks are worn during operations - to limit exposure/spread of germs and other airborne matter. If they didnt work, hospitals wouldnt use them.

Knowing this, why is it such a surprise that the Japanese, who value social harmony and the group over the individual, would not wear them out of courtesy to others?

Irony of this entire debate is that the very people who complain most about being labeled Gaijin/Hafu, and the implications that it's discriminatory, likely come from countries that often referred to non-whites(including Japanese, Asians) in far more derogatory/damaging terms and continue to this day.

End illegal immigration and watch wages go up

That's not how the economy works let alone Capitalism, the very system that most Americans w/relatively high standard of living.

If wages went up cost of goods will also rise making everyday goods more expensive and the result would be slowing economic growth leading to fewer jobs.

Guess who would be hurt the most by this? The very same people who complain about illegal immigration yet rely the most on govt welfare.

Posted in: Millions living in U.S. illegally targeted for possible deportation under Trump rules See in context

Firstly many US citizens are and do perform those jobs. Secondly most Americans have no problem with immigrants doing these jobs, they have problems with ILLEGAL immigrants doing them

Obviously not enough US citizens do those jobs to meet demand hence opportunities for illegal immigrants to fill the need.

Americans that have problems w/illegal immigrants working in US are being hypocritical when their very way of life would be impossible w/out them.
