With a one-line order, Suga could close down all airports. That would not be breaking any contracts with the IOC.

Wasn't the Olympics glory suppose to represent the virility and powerful comeback of the repair of Fukushima after the major Tsunami?

@Jandworld: In actuality, most companies consider you elderly after you turn 60. The proof is in how your salary is adjusted.

To us, being elderly is a mindset thing.

So no matter what age they designate as elderly, get the shots, enjoy life, and smile that they are finally getting things done.

@GaryPen: I really don't need large volumes of Western products as I live in Japan. There are some good deals on blocks of hard cheese, some sausages...and not much else in our opinion. If you do comparison shopping as my wife does, we do much better shopping locally on prices and freshness. Try Fooshu online. I can walk to Costco by the way at Zama. About 40 minutes away.

Do you see the unattended kid grabbing free food? That is why it should be banned. Dirty and disgusting with kids running wild in Costco, and the prices are not really cheap anyway. Poking fingers through the plastic covering meats etc. is really wrong.

Keep the free food. I shop elsewhere now.

@Tokyoite: You got us on that one. The comedy value will be something to remember. Thanks for reminding us. Might even look that up on the tube, but since non-Japanese probably only Japanese Olympiads will be shown.

I have no issues at all with any of them doing whatever they please, but please, please tell us how the toilet situation works. It is hard enough to find a clean private toilet around the world yet these guys are confined to space suits.

I can tell you some good stories about umbrellas...

Let the wheelchair people in on this, because if you are rolling in a chair or tugging along something heavy there are so many dead-end zones with huge flights of stairs in front of you then you have to back track and even get tickets reissued and often go outside to another entrance even in the rain just to get to a platform. Pathetic.

Good luck to those people living there. Must be terrible. On our trip to Kanazawa where we are now there was quite a bit of dangerous flooding as well.

Read on a Japanese site that Zushi and Kataseenoshima beach houses had cases already because probably all the young workers do not wear masks. Be careful if you take your families to the beaches.

All major dictionaries online exemplify prostitution with the word comfort women, as acclaim to the reality of what it is and was throughout the history of war. Shameful yes, but it is what it is. No art shows should be censored nor canceled.

US Embassy Tokyo just sent out an emergency update. Emphasized twice that 14-day quarantine is mandatory no ifs and or butts.

But...what about Suga claiming a safe Olympics, and Bach just finishing his three days and free to move everywhere including Hiroshima?

I really don't get it. Hubby and I are flabergasted.

Have shekels will travel so no need for working but I understand both cases here. Some enjoy the freedom of being on their own and do a good job at it, but others being social creatures need support emotionally from colleagues because they are not strong enough to stand up on their own.

That is what printing presses are for and when you own most of your own debt you can print all the paper you want...so why is the Yen only sitting at ¥100 = $1.00? That boggles our minds but we are not economists...thank the lordy lord on that.

Went down to the sailing Olympic venue a few days back. Talked with all of the foreign guardsmen. No women. They were from all parts of southeast Asia. Everyone spoke English. They said they were all inoculated and these men were young.

The place totally locked down except for Olympiads with passes hanging around their necks. Maskless. They were free to go in and out.
