Posted in: BABYMETAL plays first ever U.S. show See in context

Babymetal is awesome. Their band is awesome too! They really really needed a bigger venue (with working air conditioning) so more fans could see them perform live. Unfortunately, they just had one show for their fans. The rest of their appearances will be opening for Lady Gaga, and they aren't given much time either. Most of the audience there is unfamiliar with them so there's not much interaction. They deserve to tour on their own in North America.

I guess the pedestal must have been too heavy to steal.

Posted in: Chinese media slam Japan's move to expand military role See in context

Looking at that graphic showing the huge discrepancy between the size of the Chinese military and the Japanese military, I don't blame Japan one bit. Even with the US, I think the odds are stacked against Japan if there was a conflict between the two countries. The gap will only widen as China increases it's military spending.

They must be really hard up for money if this is all they can come up with.

How about teaching people to have manners and to be polite? That would benefit their society more.

It's best for Japan to start supporting their local robotics companies unless they want Google to rule the world of robotics in their own country.

Posted in: Japanese retailers target new big spenders - tourists See in context

Good news for Japan but this increase in tourists won't offset their imports of fossil fuels. They are going to have to restart and drastically improve their manufacturing capability in order to become an export positive economy again in their non-nuclear power generation state.

I like that there are women in the picture. Still Japan desperately needs more women in the workplace and more women in positions of power, not to mention more daycare centers.

I hope they'll build mobile armored mechas now. That would be cool.

Posted in: Australia, NZ fear Japan may try to sidestep whaling ban See in context

The ban only pertains to Japan's Antarctic whale hunt. For the time being, they'll continue to hunt whasle elsewhere.

However, whale meat consumption is down already and Japan will have to seriously consider if it's worth wasting budgetary funds to continue whaling altogether. I'm sure the fishermen will be unhappy and out of work, but costs need to be reigned in.

Thanks China for doing Japan a favor. They can use the yen and use it on something stupid like give the money to Palestinians or the Ukraine instead of paying off more debt.

This article is confusing. It says Lawmakers, as in plural but the only current lawmaker they mention is Nariaki Nakayama. The Title should be changed to Lawmaker (singular) as no one else is named who would be in favor of revision.

If there was anytime for Japan to develop robot caretakers and workers now would be a good time. Considering Google just purchased one of Japan's up and coming robot companies (amongst 8 other including Boston Dynamics), Japanese robot companies need to merge with each other in order to compete globally with Google someday soon.

Posted in: Japan to hike mid-term defense spending by 5% See in context

That's just a drop in the bucket. They should consider doubling their defense spending. Also look to involve other countries to cooperate on future weapons systems like they have with the UK. Then increase military exports to shore up the domestic defense economy. Better late than sorry.

If the Chinese won't buy Chinese made diapers, then I think it's time for Kao to severely ramp up domestic production of Merries. Increase and improve Japanese production and hopefully Japanese parents will benefit from lower pricing.

As for their China plant, it could be used for export to other countries less finicky about where their diapers originate from.
