Posted in: Netflix trims staff to weather slowing growth See in context

Cancelled my subscription after the last price increase. Netflix seemed to think they were infallible and the amount of woke material has surely put many off. Time to get on the peacock train.

Zhao Ming -

actually the book of Sui (China’s in-depth history) states the Japanese were using the technique in the 6-7th century. China did not adopt the practice till the 9th century.

Posted in: Tokyo museum apologizes for calling 'Demon Slayer' brothel district setting a 'glamorous world' See in context

And yet all the modern day brothels or should I say hostess bars,,, are draped in signs stating glitz, glamour, exotic fun.

They clearly meant no offense to the era merely chose a less crude term of description. People will see offense in anything today. If offended, do not watch.

Tooheysnew, could not agree more. Last years SOE took its toll on our company and another may see it off completely. A lot of us simply cannot afford not to work. We have bills to pay, kids to raise, a Japanese festival seasons to bleed us all dry.

Posted in: 'Columbo,' 'Murder, She Wrote' co-creator William Link dies See in context

Columbo was and still is one of the best TV cop drama shows ever.

falk owned that role and his wardrobe or lack of, was all his own take on the character from the very start.

Thanks for adding such magic to my childhood

Sorry but the Movie was slow and boring till the last 15-20mins. The Netflix Kimitsu no yaiba episodes are far far better. However they do not in any way, shape or form compare to Sen to Chihiro. That is simply one of, if not THE greatest (non-cgi)cartoon movie ever.

Posted in: Prosecutors decide not to indict Abe over dinner party spending See in context

Vantityofvanities : we too have a saying ‘everyone has skeletons in their closet’ not all turn out to be ya dead grandma if you catch my drift. Also the fact that you said Abe did things ‘to’ Japan and not ‘for’ is vastly more apt than you may acknowledge.

Yet another, ‘you are all foreigners here, how could you possibly understand...’ comment. Hypocrisy at its finest

Amazing coincidence that you mention Scales when your views are clearly one-sided.

Though hateful, malicious and likely from a pathetic sad individual, it’s freedom of speech which seems to be eroding before our very eyes. Pandora’s box is well and truly opened. I’m know it’s a tragedy but Do not use social media unless you can deal with the lows as well as highs.

Posted in: Kane says Premier League players should keep taking the knee in racism fight See in context

Totally agree Penfold. Not one single player has refused to perform this nonsense before a match. This is not optional. Commentator lost their jobs for refusing to wear BLM badges. I support kick it out and I’m against racism anywhere but this is clearly having an adverse effect.

Posted in: JAL ditches 'ladies and gentlemen' for gender-neutral greetings See in context

How ironic,, all these people posting “all these negative comments” .....for people simply having an opposite opinion to theirs or the current common fad to be upset over. Why exactly are they negative ? They merely have a different opinion.

Whether you like it or not gender is biological. What you deem to portray yourself as is up to you, her, him, we, they...

Posted in: Episode of UK sitcom 'Fawlty Towers' pulled over racist slurs See in context

It’s been reinstated. Back on UkTV from today.

if you start scrapping films and shows because of potential offence you will open Pandora’s box. Miissippi burning, American history X, Boys in hood, 12yrs a slave. Don’t all these contain controversial content they may offend certain groups or is it ok to offend some but not others..

I watched shows from the 50s/ 60s as a teenager in the 80s and was able to put it into context as ‘it was different back then’ why the heck can’t people do that today.

‘The district court last December ordered Yamaguchi, a biographer of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, to pay 3.3 million yen in damages to Ito, recognizing he "had sexual intercourse without the consent of Ito, who was in a state of intoxication and unconscious’

Correct me if I’m naive and incorrect but is that not rape ???

Monty - But surely that applies to everyone in the entire world ? Anyone could test negative and catch is 10mins later on the train, supermarket etc. This hasn’t stopped mass testing in the US, the UK, Korea etc.

Posted in: Koike pressures Abe to declare state of emergency See in context

Bruce Chatwin. Can you please post each day. Keep me updated :) as We are clearly on the same page. You can’t account for what’s not made accountable. These figures are an utter sham. And Mrs ‘Olympics’ Koike is a utter disgrace playing this emergency card now when she clearly prioritized the Olympics above people welfare just 2 weeks ago.

Wanderlust is absolutely spot on. So much of that AV is geared towards forced / coerced intercourse. And ‘the virgins till 30’ merely learn about sex that way or pervy manga. Very sad state of affairs for a nation that considers itself ‘ oh so honorable’

I must say though,,your title name is very apt regarding your comment.. Lol

Posted in: Mitsubishi board considers new allegations of unreported payments to Ghosn See in context

Yubaru : Actually I think you may be showing a little naivety here. To a larger extent that's exactly how the money wheels turn regarding large corporations/institutions. Not sure if you are employed in or are familiar with the inner dealings of current high-finance industry but the reality is the checks on financial deals/transfers are by far more strictly upheld for the individual or small-to-middle sized companies when amounts seems a little high than the big Cs. For large financial transfers between two parties that regularly deal in figures of this area, depending on the relationships of those involved, the checks can most certainly be minimal. It is a very common practice "Don't worry about that paperwork Mr Miura"..

Having said that, there is absolutely zero possibility of him being able to carry this out without the board knowing. There would be numerous factors/items that would be apparent and if not picked up on then merely goes to show it was either collusive or common practice. Guilty or not this drawn out detainment is a farce.
