Posted in: Japan to ban physical punishment of children by parents See in context

I think a little corporal punishment dished out occasionally if perfectly fine! Sure as hell worked for my brother & I growing up!

Here are words we dreaded:

Wait Till Your Father Comes Home!

Man oh man still remember those words. Here were the tools used on our butts on occasion:

The BOARD of Education(small paddle board with a pic of bent over kids with RED butts LOL!)

The dreaded Wooden Spoon

That was it, when older we used to get GROUNDED for a week or two, man that was awful! But it WORKED awfully well!

Bottom line is the best way to prevent abuse is to TEACH people how to be better parents & people thinking about being parents should bloody well do some studying & thinking BEFORE the kids arrive to be better prepared for parenting

Sadly far far too few parents prepare for parenting, just most dog owners DONT train their dogs how to behave!

Do the above & abuse will decline MASSIVELY! You are all welcome!

Why everyone wore the same suit in Black to attend a job fair? Like going a funeral !

Sadly for many it kind of is!

Posted in: 48-year-old man arrested for fatally stabbing mother See in context

I have a 14 year old grandson who's already decided he's not going to school anymore. It's already just him and his mother in the apartment. But whenever I say anything about the situation and what it could turn into, I'm the bad guy.

Hopefully the kid gets back in school or a JOB & their own place!

The hikkikomori types are born but MADE, by their environments, ie stuck in their damned rooms! Get them out into the world and most will find their place in it!

Leave kids at home too long & odds of tragedy increases to a VERY high level as we are seeing in society today!

Agreed GPapa!!

Cant grow up unless the kids are forced out of the nest, when I was done Uni & was home looking for work my old room was now Moms hobby room & I was on a cot in the basement beside the washing machine & dryer & the floor was slopped slight, AWFUL to sleep on!

Graduated Uni in spring & had my first CRAPPY apartment before summer & have never lived at home since. But NOW mom is always begging me to come home for a visit & a GOOD bed LOL!!!

Interesting thread here! Meds are both a blessing & cures in Japan for sure.

The simple fact one CANNOT buy OTC meds for the common cold & flu is just nuts. Yes technically there are OTC meds but their strengths are so low to be pretty much placebos!

When I go home & bring back cold & flu meds for when the need arises so almost never end up in a docs office with the exception of dentists, now don't get me started on the idiotic world of J-dentistry...…

One of the biggest problems is doctors making $$ based on patient visits & drugs prescribed, the amount of time & $$ wasted by the masses on TOO MANY doc visits should really be looked into as the costs to people & businesses is MASSIVE in this regard & so unnecessary!

The only way out for Nissan is to pay a massive premium on shares held by Renault & end the relationship, which is WHAT they should have done in the beginning instead of kidnapping two people to hold for ransom!

This should be common knowledge by now, construction is probably the most obvious example of institutional corruption in Japan & there are MANY more industries doing the same.

This is why Japan is so expensive & people get so little value for money spent

I don't see much change happening though, politicians & the rich benefit too much from how things are to change

And also glad we don't have kids here, don't think I could forgive myself raising kids here, those that do I wish you all the best & hope you can add that something that most J-homes don't even comprehend.

Street food is usually fine IF cooked!

I would avoid things like salad, water, ice cubes etc. But NOT because it is unsafe BUT because I am NOT used to the local water, like the locals, THAT can get one sick quick!

Basically come down to common sense

Just ANOTHER reason to avoid super cheap sushi joints, the Y100 ones are downright nasty, sign of how low Japan has sunk unfortunately
