DEFINITELY a good idea, I have been cutting down on rice consumption with GREAT results, so much so the Mrs has asked me to stop losing weight.

Will definitely try this & hopefully other places do similar!

Posted in: Prevention of animal hoarding takes on urgency in aging Japan See in context

People here only seem to be getting it half right, YES by all means, catch & fix strays, but people MUST STOP FEEDING strays, otherwise the problem will never go away!

To feed strays is to KILL strays, & even with fixing cats still leading HORRIBLE short lives, they still die of diseases, killed or wounded by cars etc.

Those that say their populations of strays are "stable"...…. well ok until MORE strays move in & have kittens and they will IF you are offering food, stop feeding & they strays will not hang around.

I know it sounds harsh but otherwise you are only doing half the task at hand.

I know, I keep three strays of various ages, catch & fix probably 10+ strays that myself & one other neighbor pay out of pocket for, BUT one guy insists to still feed them...…….and YES more strays show up, becomes a NEVER ending cycle, STOP FEEDING & by all means catch, fix & release!

Posted in: Amazon dismisses idea automation will eliminate all its warehouse jobs soon See in context Inc dismissed the idea of running a fully automated warehouse in the near future, citing the superior cognitive ability of humans and the limitations of current technology.

OK so as SOON as the tech is there, the people are GONO!  While I understand productivity is good.... we are already at a place where a BLOODY WAREHOUSE job is seen like its some kind of high end high paying gig that will soon be on its way out...………

Folks this all isn't going to end well, hell its pretty awful now...….I wonder if Amazon realies it is killing the golden its customers

Posted in: Japan begins last round of 'research' whaling off Pacific coast See in context

Can someone explain to me why Norwegian and Icelandic whaling which is much larger in scale than that of Japan attracts relatively little attention? To be sure, it gets some attention, but very little relative to that of Japan. If nothing else, Norwegian and Icelandic whaling should get some attention when condemning Japan because both countries sell whale meat to Japan. In effect they are doing stealth whaling for Japan.

Scroll to top of this page for your answer, you wont se Scandinavia Today or similar!

And yeah they don't lie about what they are doing.

I have often said Japan should just stick to a bit of coastal whaling & few would care or protest, after all the Antarctic  BS it seems Japan may well just do that!! Whodda thunk that !

Posted in: Japan's child population falls for 38th year, hitting postwar low See in context

…..sigh, once again an oversimplification!! Japans problem is NOT just a decline in population but HOW it is declining, you and many others need to learn & understand what a population pyramid is & LOOK at Japans, Japan is on the road to extinction right now if things don't change.

I am ALL for overall decrease in humans, BUT one must look at populations & trends in areas concerned to see how bets to go about, simply just hoping for populations to drop can & DOES cause lots of problems(like in Japan) that are more than just relayed to the economy!

Posted in: Trump attacks social media companies after Facebook bans See in context

Look I am NOT a fan of far right nut jobs NOR am I a fan of left wing nut jobs!

As I have said elsewhere before, while I may strongly disagree with a point of view, BANNING is a very bad idea, and it does seem that a bunch of loudmouths going on about being offended are making enough noise to get bans put in place in various media & elsewhere.

We also see these with speakers being cancelled or not allowed on campuses etc, IT IS getting BAD & this will come back on us all!

We are seeing a lot of bans, de-monetizing video's etc all because of simply disagreeing with IDEAS.

Again I see lots of nutters left & right. I say let them SPEAK, we CANT have them banned because they offend, offending is NOT a reason to ban, and people are now USING words like hate improperly & it is causing problems & they seem to be getting worse

While yanks have some of the best schools, tons are mediocre at best, the costs seem even more insane then where I am from.

This idea is interesting BUT as soon as I heard Wall Street was interested then I KNEW this has got too bad, I would urge yank students top be VERY careful how they structure their debt as they will have to pay one way for another!!!

If this catches on in sport it would be good, but seriously IJIME needs its arse kicked OUT of J-society, it is absolutely pervasive & a hugely negative thing!

And yeah sempi-kohai are just two words that = ijime  90% of the time

Had I grown up here I would have HATED sport & participated in a lot of different sports growing up, harsh coaches were a rarity thank goodness!

You can tell from this article alone that Akihito really wanted to do a LOT more with respect to what Japan did in the 1930-40's BUT you can also CLEARLY see just how much the ldp made sure he did NOT do more where it seems the Emperor would have gladly tread!

Posted in: Do you believe Carlos Ghosn will receive a fair trial in Japan? See in context

Folks here need to remember only the CONNECTED Japanese get to run free while committing crime, those of lessor status are ROUTINELY jailed after forced confessions, after all the jails are mostly filled with Japanese!

Only the big wigs in Business & politicians routinely skate

As for Ghosn…..he doesn't have a hope in HELL of getting a fair trial, that should be patently obvious by now

Posted in: New Zealand, France announce bid to stop social media being used to organize terrorism See in context

While I understand the sentiment I disagree with the way this seems to be going or they want it to go...…

If this gains traction we WILL lose some of our already decreasing freedoms.

Again I dislike that this idiot streamed his act of terror, haven't watched it, don't intend to, but I think that this did get out is PART of the price we NEED to pay to keep more of our freedom, even though it WILL mean some ugly awful things will happen...…….. mark my words it will be MUCH worse overall if we all start losing more & more of our freedom & THAT is exactly what will happen.

NOT a good thing, as NO ONE is capable to "policing" this so to speak, this could easily get WAY out of hand, in fact this stuff is already happening on youtube etc with very arbitrary bans, people are losing their jobs etc we are heading in a rather bad direction

Correct on  the employment situation!! I cant believe how many here on JT don't understand the problems of Japans age\population distribution, more than a few here don't seem to be able to understand what a population pyramid measures & for Japan what it means as the base quickly narrows while the top is getting super fat……..truly mind boggling
