Well the smart ones would at the beach cooling off. Isn't that what the continental Europeans do? They take 2 weeks holiday in the summer and are much better off for it too. The alternative is stay at work and boil to death etc

All large buildings with flat roofs should (by local ordinance) have to be able to supply a percentage of power used in the building by solar or wind power. As Tokyoites start passing out from the intense summer heat this year that thought might result in some future action.........?

Japan is an enigmatic country. The population is in major decline yet events planned or not, are attempting to further reduce the population. Maybe almost dying of heatstroke will toughen the kids up for the radiation poisoning -maybe not!

This is well beyond the resources of a single company to cope with. The whole nation should be mobilising to prevent a greater disaster-as it is huge amounts of radiation are still gushing from the melted down reactors poisoning us all!

This is a national emergency but it is not being treated as such. All foreign sources opin that it is a dangerous mess. Even experts in academia from Tokyo,Kobe and Kyoto universities are critical. Prof Toshiso Kosako, the rebuffed expert, brought in as an advisor from Tokyo university tended his resignation in public view. His advice was being ignored by his superiors (not radiation experts) Raising limits for radiation exposure ,ingesting contaminated fish or swimming in a radioactive sea or lake wont' protect us from cancer or genetic damage!!!!!!!!

Anyone under the age of 50 should be evacuated forcibly. Not to do so is a death sentence. Maybe, there should be a screening of deformed fetuses, birth defects and chronic radiation induced diseases to persuade the residents of the fate that lies in store for them. How is it that the Russians could evacuate the population of Chernobyl within days but the Japanese are clueless?

Posted in: Do you think the Fukushima nuclear disaster is worse than Chernobyl? See in context
The disaster is not over so there is no way to tell , is there? The reactors are not in a shut-down mode and continue to spew radiation out. If the nuclear fuel has breached containment and is melting through the earth beneath then it is only a matter of time until underlying groundwater dispersed plutonium, uranium and the heavier radioactive elements start making their way out into the ocean. Unless that is prevented the potential for a massive catastrophe is upon us
