So, how did radioactive tea end up in France?

It is simple to evaluate-just look at the effects of the Russian nuclear disaster ( a similar event) for the consequences of radioactive fallout.

I am sure that the people want to eat the food -it is the radioactive substances that they may find unpalatable.

If anyone tells you that Japan is safe now they could be right. However, living up in Fukushima safe?Tokyo ? Kanto? Honshu? Yesterday, (Sunday) another massive amount of radiation was released ,an estimated 1.6 billion becquerels! Where does that radiation go? Of course into the environment, the air ,the water and onto the land and the food. Eventually, those substances will end up in us,where they will emit energy at our cells causing us to weaken and most likely develop cancer. When will that happen and what can be done to prevent it? Remove yourself from the source of the contamination. Radiation defects, illnesses and genetic damage are well documented-please make an informed choice

Japan should look to Russia for advice and consultation. The Russians have been through a similar crisis -while the Japanese respond ad hoc to the problems and try to find their own solutions, time is being wasted and lives are being and will be lost, not to mention how many millions will be affected by the radioactive contamination that is STILL being released!

The problems in Fukushima are affecting the world so why aren't there international teams on site?

Why is this still in the hands of a private company?

I feel much safer now that 'vents' are being installed to allow toxic radioactive substances to be 'vented' into the atmosphere.Plenty of life in those pools of molten radioactive sludge yet!

Take over responsibility for the nuclear disaster-to still have a private company handling this 'national' disaster is a dereliction of duty.

The facts are that nuclear radioactive has gone around the world more than a few times now and it is still being churned out everyday.100s of millions of people are just downwind of the most dangerous substances ever made. So, let's not get a grip by inviting overseas tourists and workers to Japan to be irradiated!

@AdamB - well, western nations have the highest collective GDPs in the world so that is where the suppl of drugs usually end up. In Canada "Cannabis use among young people is a serious public-health concern" according to Medscape(dot)com (google drug use amongst teens and you will trends up)ergo I would say that a large number of foreigners have tried some form of illicit substance. Of course, declaring that on entry to Japan is not necessary but a convicted drug user would have to under Japanese law-as Brand most likely did. The figure of 99% is a bit of hy(high)perbole though!

In order to make tourists feel secure and protected, the issuance of hazmat suits for rental and free body count radiation checks would go a long way to putting tourists' minds at rest.Wind direction and airborne radiation counts could be emailed to the mobile phone of each tourist or a special website, (in English,Spanish and Chinese etc) advising tourists to remain inside on certain days.Free decontamination showers at the port of return, followed by an iodine laced tea or coffee (to protect the thyroid gland)would leave the tourist in a relaxed and happy frame of mind, dreaming of their next trip back to Japan after a few thousand years ......

The 'opportunity' in this article is not defined, but be sure that it is the 'opportunity' to make profit-profit out of disaster! The benefit won't be for the Japanese worker as the company opens up new factories in China where workers are on a tenth of the Japanese workers' salaries.

This type of 'accident' happens almost every week in Japan. I pity the train drivers in Japan they need counseling big time.
