Hmmm. I have no idea what Matt Damon’s , Brad Pitt’s, etc etc children look like. I’ve never seen a picture of them. Clooney is drawing attention to himself with this cheap, unnecessary ploy.

That refers to the decision-makers and policymakers, the world leaders at the COPOUT26.

But if you want to compare the carbon footprint of say Greta Thunberg and

Any western leader or billionaire, or even CEO of a large multinational. They all flew in on a private jet. Greta Thunberg travelled on public trains from Sweden.

Compare the Thunberg household energy consumption with world leaders and billionaires.

But you included “the youth” and they are predominantly talkers not walkers. Also, it’s a bit ingenuous to compare the affluent Thunberg family’s energy consumption to others. The “climate crisis” is, after all, their schtick.

Greta Thunberg and the youth sum it up with

"Walk the walk, not talk the talk!"

But they dont walk the walk.

Like lobsters or frogs in a slowly simmering pot, it is possible that we will learn to accept the coming disasters, rather than try aggressively to prevent them.

Just like with covid and the steady erasing of our rights.

COPOUT26

That sums it up.

@Strangerland Your values changed?

No, they didnt at all. My values are pretty much what they always were. I’m where I always was for the most part. I didnt leave the left, it left me.

Now the left mantra is just a ruthless comply with authority or we fire you and starve you.

Exactly. I used to count myself to the left politically but when the left became this strange mix of bizarre kookiness and authoritarianism that was the turning point for me. It became very noticeable several years ago and just gets worse and worse.

How many of the attendees traveled to the "conference" in a way that would be consistent with their rhetoric?

None.

Posted in: ABBA returns with new album after 40-year hiatus See in context

I struggle 2021, with artists wanting, insisting they need to make a comeback.

I don't know what the motivation behind ABBA rejuvenation.

I think, in the case of ABBA, it’s largely the love of making music. It’s certainly not the money (they have plenty) or the need for fame (ditto).

But John Lennon captures the need to step back and walk away....

John Lennon on Why The Beatles Broke Up | The Dick Cavett Show

Well, Lennon stepped back - but not for long. And he never walked away.

We should take individual snippets of Lennon thought with a grain of salt. As his old friend and sometime musical collaborator Klaus Voorman fondly recalled, John could be extremely passionate and opinionated about something, and change his mind completely 5 minutes later.

I would be more reassured if it was 110%

When it is you’ll find the “problems” are not solved. There will be more excuses for controls and “boosters” etc. The majority of the public, and you, will accept it.

There’s an ongoing investigation into this, if you hadn’t noticed.

Why is it those who scream “Innocent until proven guilty” and “witch-hunt” the most are soonest to forget it?

Very hypocritical.

As someone previously pointed out, if it was Baldwin’s republican younger brother who had pulled the trigger the MSM - and you - would be screaming bloody murder right now.

Very hypocritical.

Try showing a little humility on at least one subject Helix, instead of just being anti mainstream I suspect for the sake of it.

Im not anti-mainstream at all. I have huge respect for ABBA and their music, for example.

I just don’t think Adele is doing anything interesting or of lasting quality musically. I see her as one of those acts that are “successful” in their time but are justifiably forgotten as time moves on.

Yet another one who when she’s gone no one will remember or revisit her exceedingly boring music. Will be quickly forgotten. A footnote in the “charts” history.

China's zero tolerance on covid is ridicul...ups, sorry, very amazing!! (sarcasm). A single case led to the full shutdown of the Disneyland, forcing over 10,000 into "self"-isolation. Economic and law enforcement costs may also be amazing. Welcome to a totalitarian society.

Just like New Zealand.

Media protects Baldwin because he parodies the person they hate on SNL. If it was his right leaning brother, the media would have a field day with this.

That is for sure.

The NY bar exam is notoriously difficult. So what if he didn’t pass it , he’s not alone. Just ask JFK jr, and plenty of other luminaries.

And I don’t care if he fails it again either.

Leave these two people alone, and report the real news truthfully for a change.
