I think he'll get $16 million over four years.

Yankees, Red Sox, and other teams paying luxury tax should be banned from free agency. MLB is the worst when it comes to parity among the teams. In the NFL, anybody could turn their team around in a season or two.

I would say it was "lowered" not dropped. I wonder how well the pickpockets did.

Gold is not for investment; it is money that holds its value over the long run.

Posted in: A minicar named Hustler? Japan's brand names raise eyebrows See in context

The car name Hustler may have drawn smirks in the 70s, but is it even in business anymore?

I'd buy it if I didn't already have a Stella.

Pete Rose, Charlie Hustle, popped into mind when I heard the name.

I think Suzuki knows exactly what they are doing.

A few times some obasan has clipped her nails. I hate that clip...clip...clip sound. Three or four clips per nail. They always play dumb when I give them the icy stare.

I don't mind a crying baby at all. That's uncontrollable. I only fly every two years or so, so I have a fair amount of patience. That's the great thing about driving - no annoying people.

Posted in: Matsui hits record-tying 6 RBIs as Yankees win World Series See in context

He's so valuable he only played in three of six games, but I guess giving Matsui the MVP means we're all square on the internment camps, right? Chase Utley had five homers, by the way, and can throw and catch baseballs as well.

"World Series" is appropriate even if the Europeans or the Cubans don't send a team over, yet. (Ya can't fail if you don't try, right?)

He can now say he's the handsomest Japanese man to win the World Series MVP and no one can argue with him.

I hope we've all learned a valuable lesson from the Yankees: If at first you don't succeed, buy, buy again.

He deserves it. It's a BS award so they couldn't have found a better guy.

Iran it not accept U.S. dollars in payment for its oil. The last nation to offer such a challenge, Iraq, was invaded only months later by President Bush II. Already, President Obama appears to be considering joint strikes against Iran to ‘protect Israel and the world from an Iranian nuclear threat.’

I support Obama if he launches the missiles.

Not so crazy about Japanese skin, but their hair is astoundingly beautiful.

Smoking a lot does destroy men's skin, not to mention slowing the blood flow to the penis.

The nominating deadline was Feb. 1. He had been president for only 10 days. They are giving him an award for his promises, not his actions.

Do the police have the right to search the vehicle in this case where no law was violated?

In the U.S., I would crack my window just enough to talk to the fuzz. If they wanted to search the car, I would ask if I were under arrest. If they said, "No," I'd say, "Blow."

Way to go Dave! Proud of you.

Far from being sexually harassed, the "victim" lavished praise on him, calling him the "best boss ever," and raving about how much fun he was to be with and how much she enjoyed her job.

I'm sure his wife will forgive him. After 23 years, their sexual days are long behind them. They will stay together for their young son Harry, age 6.

As Dave would say: Go away everybody. Nothing to see here.

Posted in: Rio wins bid for 2016 Olympics; Tokyo eliminated in 2nd round See in context

I'm surprised that the Olympics have never been held in South America before.

It's because they lack management skills. With all the new massive oil discoveries in Brazil, everybody thinks they've struck it rich.

Safest city ? Does he remember the Akihabara Rampage and the ( touchy & feely guys ) groupers on the train.

Just having one killing spree doesn't mean you can't claim the title of "safest city" in the world.

In the news today, Tokyo was cited as having only about one murder per 100,000 people or whatever while Madrid had two and Chicago (18) and Rio (over 30, I think) were off the charts.

Tokyo is definitely the safest of the four contending cities while Madrid is strong in this area, too.

Brazil did a bad job with the 2007 Pan American Games. Do you ever wonder why South America cannot match North America's economic might? They lack management skill. Rio would flop miserably.

Going in too hard is better than having to cut your kid down after they have hung themselves.

The mere fact that you are in their corner will make all the difference in the world.

I'm a high school teacher and I embarrass the hell out of the bullies. I figure if they hang themselves, nobody's gonna miss them.

Tokyo has the money in the bank and the bullet train system already in place. The question is, will Hatoyama make the trip to Copenhagen? If not, I think Oprah and Michelle will persuade the IOC in Chicago's favor.
