talking2U: the people of Palistine miraculously sprang into existence some time after 1948.

Much of the huge growth in population in the West Bank and Gaza has been from Egyptians and Jordainans immigrating to the region to find work in Israel (yet another reason to put quotes around "Palestinians"). How predictably stupid for the Muslim Arabs to want to destroy a country that has provided an economic boon to the region.

The Green Line separating Israel from the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip remained open and relatively unpatrolled from the 1967 war through the 1990s. Tens and eventually hundreds of thousands of Palestinians became migrant workers in Israel.

TheQuestion: Why in deaths name would I take them seriously?

You don't think that Iran being on the verge of having nuclear weapons with long range missiles should be taken seriously? Frankly, I can't think of a situation in the world today that's more serious.

northlondon: I don't recall any 'Islamic' terrorism in world history before the Israelis started to create their new state

Muslims were murdering Jews and unbelievers long before Israel ever existed. You can start with the Arab riots of the 1920's.

sabi: Did you ever wonder why they are unemployed.

No. There's umemployment and poverty in every Muslim Arab nation. Since "Palestinians" are Muslim Arabs, why would they be any different? In fact, they'd be more impoverished without the work Israel provides for tens of thousands of "Palestinians."

northlondon: Palestinians who have a right to live in the West Bank

But Jews have no right to live there? A million Muslims live in Israel, but no Jews are allowed to live on Muslim Arab land? It's obvious who the racists are here.

northlondon: the rest of the non-Jewish world is fed up with Israel's complete lack of humanity.

There are plenty of people around the world who have not been duped by the "Palestinian" lie. They understand Israel is surrounded by racist and violent neigbors who seek to destroy the "Infidel" state.

Moderator: Readers, please keep the discussion civil and avoid inflammatory words such as "racist."

Iran and Venezuela hailed what they called their strong strategic relationship

The Socialist-Islamist Alliance.

TheQuestion: they lack the organization, the military strength, the budget, and the powerful friends necessary to start anything on par with world war II.

They have oil money and a lot of it, and Russia and China will sell them anything they want. So unless oil is somehow rendered worthless in the near future, I'd take them seriously.

Israeli settlers have begun building new homes

These settlements provide thousands of jobs for "Palestinians" who would otherwise be unemployed. These laborers want the settlements to continue.

Due to high unemployment rates in the West Bank, tens of thousands of West Bank Palestinians depend on jobs in the settlements. In 2010 Palestinian leaders announced a ban prohibiting Palestinian laborers from working in Israeli settlements. The ban has triggered anger and uncertainty among West Bank Palestinians who depend on employment in the settlements.

sabi: who have been living there for several hundreds of years

Yeah, sure. This land used to be an empty desert, inhabited by nomads. Mark Twain in 1867 says, "one finds only a squalid camp of fantastic Bedouins of the desert; Palestine is desolate and unlovely." Nobody cared about this land until the Jewish "Infidel" turned it into something, and the socialists created a "cause."

Nearly half a million Israelis live in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.

Over a million "Palestinians" live is Israel.

Israel gave the green light to build 238 new houses

Good news for the "Palestinians". They depend on these housing developments for income, since they don't produce anything themselves.

Time for the world to find an alternative to oil. It's providing money and power to leaders who would otherwise be just irrelevant third-world dictators. They're able to buy toys they shouldn't have.

Eyeblack: I don't believe the problem is racism...

I'm afraid in this case it is about racism. It's about a racist religion that is intolerant of the unbeliever. It seeks to dominate the Infidel through Sharia law and Dhimmitude. There's unfortunately no other choice but to confront it.

neogreenjapan: ethnic cleansing of the native Palestinian people since the creation of Israel.

How is there ethnic cleansing when there are over a million "Palestinians" living in Israel and the "Palestinian" populations in the West Bank and Gaza have one the highest growth rates in the world? Ethnic cleansing results in decreased populations, like the Jews and Christians from virtually every Muslims country.

Maybe Ahmadinejad will come and round you guys up too, a bunch of first worlders who do nothing about anything except for themselves. There are billions of us who will probably be supporting him too. Watch us, while you do nothing as usual.

Well taken jhk. You clearly demonstrate why first-worlders need to wake up to this menace and do something about it.

It does not make sense to analogize a whole country to a city.

My mistake. I meant Beirut was once known as the Paris of the ME. But Muslims have destroyed the city and the country so the point's the same.

his visit exacerbated fears among many Lebanese—particularly Sunnis and Christians

And for good reason. I would not want to be a Christian living in Lebanon. Look up "Brigitte Gabriel". She's a Christian who was persecuted by the Muslims in Lebanon, and fortunately got out. Lebanon was once known as the Paris of the ME. That was before Islam became the dominant religion and predictably destroyed it.

Ahmadinejad taunts Israel from border with Lebanon

Thank goodness the one thing we can depend on is the stupidity of Islamic leaders.

"The world should know that Zionists will perish,”

But without Israel, who will the Muslim world blame for their failures?

Ahmadinejad makes a show of strength in Lebanon

Iran Uber Alles! History repeats itself.

“The Zionist regime is sliding towards collapse, and no power is capable of saving it,” he said

Doesn't Ahmadinejad realize Israel could turn his entire country into glass in about a half an hour?

sabi: It was Israel that wrecked Lebanon and murdered over 1000 civilians a few years ago.

In response to thousands of rockets being fire from southern Lebanon by Hezbollah terrorists. Hezbollah is an internationally recognized Islamic terrorist group and a proxy of Iran. If attacked again, hopefully Israel won't be so indecisive as it was against Hezbollah a few years ago.

If loyalty pledges were all that and a bag of chips we'd still have them.

We do.

The United States Oath of Allegiance (officially referred to as the "Oath of Allegiance," 8 C.F.R. Part 337 (2008)) is an oath that must be taken by all immigrants who wish to become United States citizens.

I'd venture to guess most countries have some sort of loyalty pledge. But predictably the progressives object to Israel having one, merely for political reasons.

stevecpfc: Helter Skelter; Their are Christian and atheist Arabs, or didn`t Fox News mention that?

Over 90% of Arabs are Muslim. There are Christian populations but they are being attacked and murdered by Muslims in Egypt, Sudan, Lebanon, etc. And Jews have pretty much been ethnically cleansed from the Arab nations.

Helter Skelter; good ole George Bush mad ea very very big deal about the frienship between the US and Pakistan.

Well George Bush was either being politically expedient or he is an idiot. Either way, there is no friendship between the US and Pakistan.

Personally I don't find an Islamic nation with nukes and more worrisome than the fact that the USA has them (and has used them, twice).

Then apparently you haven't been keeping up with current events. FYI there's Islamic terrorism occurring throughout the world today, much of which is exported from Islamic nations. Best they don't get access to nukes.

djuice: Just goes to show that Pakistan is no friend to the US.

Never was, never will be. The only reason Pakistan even matters is because they have nukes. An Islamic nation with nukes is a serious problem.

Arab ministers agreed Friday to give the United States another month

How far the US has fallen when the Arabs are giving them ultimatums. A number one priority for the US should be finding alternatives to fossil fuels. When this happens, the Arab league will become irrelevant.

sabi: The quicker the Israelis move back to the pre-1967 borders, the quicker we can all have peace.

Does anyone actually believe this? Had the Arabs agreed to a "Palestinian" state in 1948 instead of trying to destroy Israel, they would have had this land and more. They gambled and lost, so deal with it.

lovejapan: If you want an End to terrorism by muslims, End to occupation of countries like Palestine, Iraq, and Afganistan is a must.

But terrorism by Muslims was occurring before the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was occurring in the Middle East before the state of Israel even existed. And it occurs in countries that have absolutely nothing to do with the US or Israel. It's completely naive to believe "If we just (fill in the blank), then Islamic terrorism will end." One has to first recognize that terrorism is tied to the religion of Islam wherever it exists.

Despite concerns that the alert could cause a European travel slump, there was no strong opposition to it from European leaders

It appears the European leaders recognize the threat of Islamic terrorism within the EU. Perhaps the progressives, who are blaming everyone but the terrorists, need to take a lesson from these leaders.
