Posted in: Israel strikes Gaza in 2nd day of attacks; death toll tops 280 See in context

seems no one calls for calm when rockets are being fired at Israel, but let Israel respond and the they get jumped on...

I was raised under the "don't tease the dog or you might get bit" philosophy, I would think that would be part of islamic culture as there seems to be a real disdain for dogs... I guess not.

Hicks’ father, Terry Hicks, said the conditions imposed on his son by the court order had made his son’s life difficult.

They said Hicks converted to Islam and sought adventure as a fighter in Kosovo and Kashmir after the Australian army rejected him because of a lack of education.

I think the kid did a good job of making his own life difficult....

at least he had the freedom to throw in Iraq... I would like to see him toss a boot at any of the benevolent leaders of the glorious muslim countries around Iraq...

but never fear, the blessed Obama is coming... I am sure the reporters will be fighting to wash his feet... with his family ties to islam.

just sounds like part of evolution to me... so justification is meaningless.

If you discount evolution then you might be able to work "justification" in somewhere, based on your humanism... or other "ism".

Muslims around the world, from the Middle East to communities in Britain and Austria, on Sunday condemned the Mumbai shooting rampage by suspected Islamic militants...

... and they in-turn were condemned as "not true muslims."

what's with the "suspected islamic militants"? how about "islamic terrorists", nothing suspect about them.

This representative would no doubt explain that having a Japanese spouse, job stability, solid local residency and a guarantor would do wonders for my application.

and now you might understand how the meltdown in the US credit started... easy credit to people who don't deserve it... which Japanese credit companies try to avoid.

modernizing schools !?!?

this has got to be a joke, right? even in my short life I have seen the "modernization" of the US school system, interference from the Federal Gov. has ruined the school system in the US. Local teachers spend all their time trying to meet requirements dumped on them by the Feds and are left with no opportunity to teach the basics. (the ol' 3 R's) If the Federal Government demonstrates it's own success, then I might listen...

as for the roads and bridges... fix 'em all!!! so we can drive our 100 mile per charge cars across the nation... after they build the charging stations and hotels, since it has to charge overnight.

While I was visiting home this summer I drove all over my home state, since the gas was soooo cheap, less than $4 a gallon, ( Tokyo was at about double that, at that time).... the roads were fine and they were working and building new roads and bridges... of course my home state is a "tourist" state and knows the importance good roads for it's economy... doesn't need the Federal Gov. dictating how to do things.

so after all the roads bridges and schools are modernized, what do we do with all the unemployed?...

Christianity in Japan began with the arrival of Jesuit missionary St Francis Xavier in 1549.

that would be "modern Christianity", much earlier 2nd-6th century arrival evidence exist in Japan( China too)... however Japan was not "Japan" at that time.

Posted in: What climate change? Meltdown trumps fears at APEC See in context

let's see... if you choose to insist that humans are contributing to "global climate change" via their CO2 production, then should be rejoicing in the "global financial meltdown" since it will lead to a halt in productivity globally... as factories shut down or go out of business, jobless increases and less driving etc. problem solved...

and don't forget the pirates...

Posted in: What climate change? Meltdown trumps fears at APEC See in context

climate changes happens (warming and cooling), that is a scientific fact, backed-up by billions of years of history.

human activity influencing global climate change through CO2 output is just not scientifically possible, no matter how hard we try.

we are not significant enough.

Posted in: What climate change? Meltdown trumps fears at APEC See in context

“You are talking about activities that are going to end up creating jobs,”

the only "jobs" created will be more wind bags harping on anti-scientific theories of "man made" global warming.

Humanism run amok.

Change we can believe in!

drilling ban - great news, this will really help gas prices... the OPEC nations send their thanks. abortion support aid - good for population control in 3rd world countries, don't want all those people coming to the US... embryonic stem cell research - a way to make use of those abortions, as a poster said "the benefits will far outweigh the costs on that one"... unless of course you are the embryo/aborted fetus. more importantly military cuts which will allow all those kids being used for fodder to pursue a new line of work in the Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps...

these seem like a great way to get the US economy back on it right footing.
