Posted in: Toyota to conduct spring traffic safety campaign April 1-May 31 See in context

For those of you don't drive in Japan, traffic safety mean blocking lanes and forcing motorist to merge from three to two or two to one lane, during rush hour, to stop motorcyclist and hand the a pamphlet about safety and a stick of gum. Speaking from experience.

Not an Abe fan but I like his look into the future statement. The past can't be changed. Leave it alone! The future can be better if nations put the past behind them and work together. The world isn't going to get any better squabbling over past issues.

So these 'special' people can exercise poor time management and get in and out of the airport quickly and the others who arrive two to three hours early have to wait in long lines? That's makes sense!!

Not a fan of Abe but Swim Bike-Run makes a good point. Give Abe a break on this one. True, even the U.S. can't save all their hostages and they have many, many more years experience in doing so.

It tasting good doesn't mean it is safe. We still don't know the long term effects of consumption on kids. And Of course their going to make good comments! Can't image them refusing it or saying "this taste great and I can't even taste any radiation in it. I can't wait to bring some home to my kids." Wonder if mr. Takeshita brought some home to his wife and kids.

Posted in: Police officer breaks Rolex wristwatch during arrest; sends suspect repair bill See in context

A law enforcement officer knows what he is getting into when he/she signs up for it. As an former MP, I knew exactly what I was getting into by the end of training. It was my choice to pass or fail. If a cop suffers from mental sickness from a job related incident, they have psychiatrists on staff to deal with those matters. The flasher is a you know what but if this guy wins the case, it'll be open season for other cops to start suing suspects and criminals for the same reason. And Wow, as cops are paid with my taxes, and are able to buy a Rolex, then I guess I'm in the wrong job! Can't say I know any cops in the states that can afford a Rolex on a government salary.

Posted in: China to hold military parade to 'frighten Japan' See in context

If China is showing, what I would assume is only a tiny fraction of its military might, then I don't beleive it is only Japan China is trying to frighten. In addition, both Japan and China have pride and may continue to out do/show each other until a mistake is made ie.taking down a plane or sinking a boat or ship, then the sh** is going to hit the fan. I mean like really, how often does the US or UK have parades to show off it's military might? It's just a bully tactic that will only escalate tensions. Put both leaders in a closed room with boxing gloves for a few hours.

Major shift in interst? They mention he major increase in Asains coming to Japan but no mention of the decrease from native English speakers, which at one time was the majority. Will mean a shift from English schools to Chinese schools? Perhaps add Chinese to the curriculum?
