Prices already went up more than 10% the last time he raised consumption tax 3%! How does he expect people to enjoy life! I see visitors are having fun.

As the shelf life for these tablets is 6 to 7 years, can we assume the government will continue to supply the public forever and will new comers be given them in a "Welcome to the neighbourhood." kit? http://www.nrc.gov/about-nrc/emerg-preparedness/about-emerg-preparedness/potassium-iodide/ki-faq.html

Don't give up. Video game addiction is not much different for cigarettes or alcohol. People have been able to quit with the help of others. Be more aggressive. Take him away from his game. Go out on a date. No games. No IT on hiking trips. If you really want something you can do it.

Posted in: 7 year-old boy hit and killed by truck; driver arrested See in context

Why is everyone so quick to blame cars and drivers. The story doesn't offer enough info, like was it a highway or a narrow side street, was the 7 years old accompanied by an adult, if not why, was the driver speeding, did he go through a red light or fail to stop at a stop sign, etc. I have seen so many posts by JT readers about how reckless, pedestrians are. I am most confident that the driver is most saddened by killing a child. Yes, he made a terrible mistake and should have been more careful. I'm should it'll eat him up inside for the rest of his life. We can say should've, could've, would've all day but in the end a child is dead. To parents, teach your children to be more careful outside. There are too many time where I have to slam on my brakes because some kid, even mothers on bikes, just dart out from a corner. And Japan has lots of them. Educate people, educate!!!

As sick as it is, I gotta say crime in Japan really isn't all that bad. I read my home town paper and people are getting robbed, raped, beat and killed. I'll take stolen uniforms over a death in the family any day.

He meant, "He really hoped she could marry soon."? Almost a week of hiding and thinking and that's the best he can do? I guess politicians are loosing their ability to come up with new "they misunderstood me" excuses.

God Japan is so gullible! Investigate what? The North Korean government already has all the information needed. They give a little and take a lot. When they have enough, they cut ties and send missiles over Japan! When will Japan learn???

Posted in: Man arrested for murder of 98-year-old woman See in context

This guy killed a 98 year old woman???? I'm lost for words. Rest in Peace Ms. Masushima. It's a sad day to see someone, 98, who survived wars, massive earthquakes and other bad things then be killed by a 29 year old punk that doesn't understand the meaning of surviving in the present world. Which by the way I am most confident is easier than when she was 29.

Posted in: 1,132 taken to hospital for heatstroke nationwide June 2-9 See in context

Sorry you all, but I just can't understand such a high rate of heatstroke here in Japan. And again I gotta say I believe most of it is due to people over using the A/C. I'm 52, don't use A/C and jog 5 to 10 km 4 to 5 times a week. Mostly during day light. So could someone please explain it to me?

Posted in: 291 taken to hospital for heatstroke in one week See in context

I'm in my 50s, jog every day and very rarely use an A/C. Mostly at night for a couple of hours in August. I believe the problem is that japanese use their A/C 24/7. Their bodies can't adjust to the outside temps. People, stop using your A/C so much and stores, small and large, it's freezing inside your store. It does need to be 20degrees inside!

I'm confused! Correct me if I got this wrong. In Japan, police need political approval before protecting the public and enforcing the law? If this is true, I have now heard it all! Faith in my local law enforcement agency is at a complete loss.
