Posted in: Softbank announces $20 bil Sprint-Nextel buyout See in context

What this means for Softbank subscribers in Japan: Your services in Japan have just been thrown out the window. Basically Son is betting on growth and is spending on network upgrades in the USA over upgrading in Japan. I mean.... $20 billion of Softbank's balance sheet just went West.

Huawei is barred because of its close government and military connections within China. Considering also that most hacking of U.S. computers come from Chinese sources and you get a bad taste for China. However, as I posted earlier, in principle I totally dissagree with this because of Japan's barriers to foreign takeovers.

@sandiegoluv.... very much agree. All to often if not everytime a foreign celebrity comes to Japan they pepper the person with the same old questions. What do you think of Natto.... and do you know or what do you think of this Japanese person? If they're going to do that I'd like to see them ask.... what do you think of Fukushima?

All over the world everyone has this perception that the Japanese are very professional and dilligent.... on an individual basis I think they are.... but on the corporate level.... the inability of the individual to speak up degrades the structure.

@Anthony.... so you're saying the Masayoshi Son has turned a company that just 12 years ago was a Venture Capital firm.... into... let me see how did you put it... "They will not only be the most powerful Mobile Telecom Corporation on the planet they will own the market" An interesting statement considering that Softbank does not currently even rank in the top 30 largest mobile operator networks in the world. In addition... Masayoshi Son has be trying desparately to buy back their Yahoo Japan stock from Yahoo USA but do not have enough money to do so. Softbank just does not have the cash period. Son has done an amazing job but he has too many things going on at once... and I doubt very much that he has enough money or can come up with an investment partner to pull a Verizon acquistion off.

Bolt is a Dolt. Mark my words..... he's totally full of himself..... within 10 years he'll be bankrupt and wishing he did things outside of the track differently.

I'm totally, 100% against it.... until Japan allows a U.S. Company to buy or takeover a large Japanese company I Say NO just out of principle. Japan will not open its doors for foreign compitition..... had they forseen how much smartphones changed the market I totally believe they would have put up barriers against them.

The Japanese Government needs to go after the executives that knew what Ikawa was doing. They need to set an example across corporate Japan saying.... if you know and do nothing then you are guilty too.

Totally typical.... Toshiba buys more of a foreign company and nobody bats an eyelash.... but try the reverse.... say Apple tries to buy Sony.... and it ain't gonna happen.

Amazing.... considering the gravity of the situation I would have broken into the nearest place that was closed and taken the battery. No doubt in my mind that I would have done that.

As long as they are not investing heavily in Japanese Real Estate I think it is a good move. With Japan's population on the decline there is no place for real estate prices to go but the same direction.

Posted in: NHK wins international Emmy for quake/tsunami coverage See in context

NHK exists for the sole purpose of reporting domestic news on the back of public "donations" and support by the govt. That they did a superior job in reporting in the aftermath of the tsunami and Fukushima is a given. To me, this award speaks volumes of the ignorance of those that gave the award itself. Again, and again, and again, I shake my head in desbelief of how the "International" award committee conducts itself. When a new agency goes beyond the normal boundaries of reporting and provides a superior product then they deserve an award. NHK had to do what it did if not just to justify its existence. Context, context, context.

Posted in: Chinese ships enter disputed waters for 2nd day in a row See in context

China is probing..... very shortly they will send a 50 ship armada and take the islands without possibly having to firing a shot. China is probably right now.... amassing as many ships as it can off their coast nearby the Senkakus..... when darkness falls they'll sail straight for the Senkakus and surround them. After that.... they will dare the Japanese to force them out. I'm sure Japanese and U.S. Satellites are closely watching Chinese Naval ship movements. Japan needs to be ready.... but they are afraid to surround the islands first with their ships since that will basically be telling the Chinese that if they want them then they'll have to fight for them. They're still hoping for a diplomatic solution. But that said.... the Japanese Navy is probably also getting its own little armada of ships strategically placed in order to counter a Chinese move. People.... this in just Conjecture on my part but I'd bet a lot of money that I'm right too.

It will be interesting to see if the gadgets that give one the ability to turn things on and off remotely in one's home actually consume more energy on average than what the average person would save using this technology. That was a mouthful.

Posted in: Men connected to Roppongi club murder flee Japan See in context

I laugh at all the people living behind Rose colored glasses! If indeed this man borrowed money from a Crime Syndicate and refused to repay..... and then had the audacity to be out partying in Roppongi in plain sight.... well then guess what. It would be so nice if this stuff never happened I know but the grim reality is.... it happens every day, and probably every hour somewhere in the world. These elements of the Human Race will always be present.... the trick is to try to keep it down as much as possible. In Japan its rare for criminal elements to take a person's life.... but every once in awhile.... it may be necessary to send a signal.

Posted in: Labor ministry to scrap employee pension insurance system See in context

They said they "Plan" to abolish it. This is how things are done in Japan. Basically.... they come up with an idea and announce it.... if they get very little backlash or disagreement.... they then go ahead with the idea. But I kind of think there will be more than one person against the idea. My money says they don't abolish it but they modify it somehow. This is Japan......

Prediction: This will do terrible. I'm sure there will be PS3 Fanatics that may want one but it really does not deliver anything special other than being "Sleek". Sony will lose money on this. I think the vast majority of people that already own a PS3 will just stay with it and wait for the PS4.
