Japan and its arrogance. Japan playing the "culture card". Japan raping the oceans. Japan paying off smaller (read: poorer) countries to get it votes in the IWC.

Give it up Japan. Earn some respect why don't you? You're like a pathetic child in the sandpit who digs its heels in when it doesn't get its own way. "So and so country treats animals inhumanely so why can't we?". That "justification" just doesn't fly Japan. It really doesn't.

Pack up your shovel and remove yourselves from this vile practice once and for all. Earn some respect. Earn some dignity. Earn humility.

Give it up Japan. Just give it up.

What she is doing is critical to raise the dismal state of animal welfare or, more to the point, lack of it in Japan. She has been involved in the animal rights/welfare movement for some time. Using her fame in this way is a great way to get the message out to a public who is mostly unaware of the truth. Apathy also plays a major role in Japan.

She has my greatest respect unlike that despicable Ryoko Yonekura who swans around in fur, winning that ridiculous "Furrist of the Year" (or whatever it's called) one year.

I'm encouraged to know that in a sea of inane, vacuous, untalented "tarento" in Japan Aya Sugimoto is prepared to stand up and let her voice be heard. Kudos to her!

She may be young and beautiful and people were drawn in by that but she's an animal tester. Absolutely no respect for her.

I drove through Tamura yesterday heading for Iitate do some volunteer work. So, so sad.

The Japanese government makes me sick. They're too busy focusing on the Olympics to care about Tohoku.

As for why I go volunteering...to help the biggest victims of Tohoko, the poor animals. The situation up there, three years later, remains dire. It is truly sickening that animals are left to fend for themselves, leading isolated lives, no doubt breeding (those that are free, of course, not the poor dogs chained up all day, everyday). I though Japan was a civilised, modern society but the way it treats animals is anything but.

Disgusted.

I hope the poor people and animals of Tohoku can return to some sense of normalcy after all this time. I fear that will not happen though.

Fantastic news.

Japan acts like a spoiled child in the sand pit when it comes to the ocean. It thinks it can rape the ocean until there's nothing left.

Give it up Japan. Gain some respect for yourself.
