Sushi states
The right needs to learn to think for themselves because not doing so leads to blind obedience to the party line, unthinking hatred toward key people and concepts, and a general dumbing down of the group.
You exemplify your own premise.

Because so many ignorant white West Virginians are actually Republicans who showed up at the wrong place or punched the wrong hole.
West Virginia has a closed primary, meaning that voters can only vote the ballot of the party in which they are registered and Byrd was a democrat. Are not all liberal voters paragons of virtue and intellect? You lecture regarding content of character, yet always define people by their race. That is impolite.

America's politics is a puzzle, the "get US government out of our private life" party now stating that US government must protect the "sanctity of marriage." Moreover I believe America has bigger fish to fry than this issue.

Are you claiming that there weren't plenty of images and statements out there portraying Obama as Adolph Hitler?
I claim there is rhetoric from both side, America has the pesky First Amendment.

When I take a look at the "context" of the first 11 months of President Obama's first term, I see hoards of angry teabaggers and other such types wielding posters of Obama as Adolf Hitler
Where do you see this? It was Speaker Pelosi who refer to 'Tea Partiers' as Nazi.

He has been rewarded just because he is not Bush-kun, yet he sounded like George W. Bush in the speech.
NeoJamal, Nobel lost credibility when Al Gore received one. They may as well name it the cowbell prize now.

Obama-san would have gained great face in my household, if he had not accepted this award. No embarrassment for the US at all. Even, I believe some of his most ardent supporters are confused as to why the committee gave him this award.

"No one forced him to run for president."
The American public did, since they were sick of the filth the GOP were putting forward, and the past WH. And you know what, the American public won.
Every day Obama-san is in office, the better Bush-kun looks.

neverknow2: We may never know what became of him, all reports I have read are vague. They were hiking and became separated, nothing more.
Other articles do suggest she sounded quite frustrated when her calls were repeatedly diverted to administration services. When she did speak to a 911 operator, that operator was the pilot's wife. They went on to say the tail rotor hit a tree upon take-off and crashed.
Although it was New Mexico, I doubt he was abducted.

Hey, I am a non smoker, and I could actually care less about smoker's rights. I see a larger issue here, Obama is using this current climate to expand government into areas which it was not meant to rule. He is certainly on a roll.

If you were to ask a US worker about health care reform, he/she would respond, will I receive quality care? Ask a doctor, and they will respond, will I get sued, if I do not perform a battery of tests, before proceeding with treatment. Government run health care, will be a bare bones disaster.

How is this in any way historic? The 1998 tobacco settlement between 46 states and the 6 largest tobacco companies did the exact same thing, except the regulations were self-imposed. Now Obama wishes the government to be in control. I thought the first amendment presupposed that people, not the government, should decide what is best for themselves. Next Obama will probably appoint a smoking czar. Communism isn't dead, it only relocated.
