I am confused, if she was camping with a boyfriend, what became of him?

Unfortunately if the police do not chase suspects, anarchy would exist.

The guard who was killed opened the museum door to let in what he thought was a harmless old man. His act of courtesy cost him his life. He was simply a target of opportunity. So very sad. The nutters make their presence known, when the economy goes pear shaped.

Posted in: Obama promises more than 600,000 jobs this summer See in context

This article is about job creation, not Obama as God. These 600,000 jobs will be temporary construction jobs mainly. Repairing America's crumbling infrastructure. Yes, it needs to be done, it has been ignored for some time, by BOTH parties. Once a construction job is done, the workers move on.Probably back to the unemployment line. This figure of 600,000 looks impressive, however it is misleading.

Unfortunately, the jeannie is out of the bottle and cannot be re corked. Even if they could pass a law regarding this, I fear it would only hurt law-abiding citizens who feel the need to defend themselves against very well armed criminals.

Actually, guns are illegal within Washington DC. However criminals always find a way to gain access.

An octogenarian neo-nazi, that is a lot of suppressed anger and hate. His anger may have been directed at Jews, but it seems he was willing to kill arbitrarily. CNN reported he served aboard a PT boat during WWII.

What I infer from this article is the foreign tourists are middle-aged and probably overweight(by J standards),whose nakedness is embarrassing, and would probably frighten small children.

Does this man actually have a name? Will he now be referred to as Nori-P's surfer ex-husband? This stalker/reporter needs to do more digging.

Posted in: What did you think of U.S. President Barack Obama's speech to the Muslim world? See in context

It's also interesting that Obama made reference to his father being Muslim. While campaigning for the presidency he described his father as being agnostic. Quite a difference between the two.

Posted in: Sotomayor says she chose word poorly in 2001 speech See in context

yabits:

This really serves to make my point. The "some people" who claim outright that Sotomayor is "racist" are a relative handful of whites. And not on the basis of any of Sotomayor's legal decisions, but because of ONE innocuous statement made in ONE speech to a group of young Latinos nearly a decade ago. The power of this tiny fragment of white society and how they get folks like you to give creedence to their looney claims is really quite amazing.

She actually stated something similar years before, so perhaps she had been 'tweaking' the comment.

Posted in: What did you think of U.S. President Barack Obama's speech to the Muslim world? See in context

I have read on other threads how great his speech was for extending an olive branch to the Muslims. Asking "why can't we all just get along". I don't believe his motive is religious harmony. The mid-east is so important due to it's oil reserves, period. America is an oil driven economy, big oil dictates US mid-east policy, and have done so for the last hundred years. I feel his speech was symbolism without substance.

The article I read implied the Carradine family preferred this scenario to the suicide report. Very western.

Yea, I checked out IMDB, there is an article stating he died during a sex game gone wrong. According to sources in Bangkok. Wow, 72 years old.

DXXJP: His kung fu was not bad, but he seemed to portray more cerebral characters. As opposed to non-stop action. Kill Bill may have been an exception.

Posted in: Obama calls for new beginning between U.S., Muslims See in context

Just as an example, there is a legitimate belief held by many in the West that it is becoming increasingly unacceptable to criticize Islam, and that freedom of speech is gradually being chipped away.

This is true, however is shows how political correctness has permeated the American psyche.

Obama's speeches sure are pretty, let's see if they are symbolism or substance. There is a new King Tut in town.

zurcronium: There is plenty of blame to go around. My reference is the 1990's when unions demanded full salary for laid off workers. GM became fat and unsustainable. Shortsighted decisions were made by many, yes management also.

Posted in: Japan business leaders hoping for GM revival after bankruptcy See in context

20,000 workers will be fired. GM needed to become leaner 20 years ago. The union never would have allowed it.
