Womanforwomen, I am not sure this concept of not talking to neighbors is unique to Japan. It is much more global. People relocate more frequently than before. Also the internet keeps people holed up at home. However these love hotels are definitely unique to Japan.

The Japanese should continue to wisely use their credit cards as charge cards. In the US many people are drowning in debt from easy access to credit, without thinking about the monthly payments. The article implies that US customers pay what they want each month, that is untrue. Card issuers set a minimum monthly payment designed to keep one in debt forever.

Forty years after it flopped on network TV, it has become the Paramount franchise that refuses to die, even after half the cast and its creator have gone out into the universe. The question is, what will they call the sequel? Star Trek--The Sequel?
