Japan made the mistake of talking about him in the news. It only boosted his views and fame. Although many people dislike him, too many people searched to see his videos and leave comments which in turn boosted his fame and gives him more money.

He just walked into a construction site while wearing a Halloween mask and started saying he's there for work. I don't think they can get him on too much for that. Maybe deportation. But he will continue his shenanigans. This will definitely open the door for others to fill his place.

Posted in: In Tokyo, some drink on despite gov't request for bars to close at 8 p.m. See in context

Some of the places closing early hurts some workers that get paid on an hourly rate. Some of those workers depend on those hours every night to be able to keep making ends meet. Not all work can be done remotely. That subsidy does not take into consideration the circumstances for each business.

Last year the state of emergency was just a payout to the company I work for who collected money as a hurt business but continued asking us to come to work. I guess I can look forward to that again.

It's quite difficult to limit what people say online. Social media isn't really a good place for sensitive people.

Living in the city you are breathing much more deadly fumes from all the cars than a few smokers who might pass by when walking. There are already many rules in place for where people have to smoke. No need to make more.

There are websites for guys to meet at public places for such activities. But not for molesting, for gay cruising. Could it be possible the younger boy was set to meet the guy but changed his mind just before the man arrived? The man could have been unaware that the boy changed his mind. Before anyone trashes the idea, you would be surprised at how many places guys meet publicly to hide and play.

By law, every foreigner working in Japan should have enrolled in the National health insurance or company insurance or their visa is revoked / not renewed!

Foreigners also take sick days far more often and easily in comparison to Japanese. So your statement is outright wrong or you are talking about some shady foreigners without proper visa and doing illegal work in Japan!

By law, many companies are supposed to pay half of the employees health insurance. That doesn't mean it actually happens. They often word their contracts to avoid paying their half. They are known as black companies. Which is most English companies in Japan.

Japanese are given sick days and paid holidays and are allowed to use them. Many companies employing foreigners try to force their employees to take their paid holidays on days the company chooses.

Most foreigners work on 1 year contracts and aren't really given any real job stability. So, it's not outright wrong. Please try again.

Guess what? Same thing applies to Americans working in America. Japan at least has a national insurance plan that can cover foreigners under certain immigration status'.

"If any of the 28 million people without insurance develop symptoms and get coronavirus tests, they could face medical bills that could push them further into poverty."

I'm sure it also applies to America. I didn't say this was only an issue in Japan.

Posted in: Out of school, Japanese children are isolated by coronavirus policy See in context

I see more children playing outside due to schools closing. I feel sorry for parents who can't take time off of work due to many companies not allowing paid leave. English schools and jukus are still operating on their normal schedules. Seems like the idea just shifted where children are during the day and not really limiting there risk of exposure.

I wonder how many people will do the same thing. Some people won't even go to the hospital to get checked simply because they can't afford to. Especially foreigners working in Japan. Either they can't afford to take off work or lack of insurance.

If you look under some of the tables you will see boxes of items most likely bought in China that they sell as well. Because there is no way people lost a box of 10 identical items. I suspect there is a bit of a scam behind these sales.

Best thing to do is just keep telling them you don't speak Japanese and that you don't understand. Most police officers don't speak English and will easily give up and leave you alone if you aren't really doing anything wrong.

Sounds legitimate. Let's wait in line for hours for technology that has been out for 2 or more years. Let's wait in line for out dated features and over priced repairs. There hasn't been an iPhone that can out perform Android. If you like simplicity, limited features, and design buy an iPhone. If you like the latest features and designs you won't find it in an apple store.

It doesn't make sense to allow people who aren't citizens to vote. If they want to stay and have the right to vote then they can go through the process to become a citizen. Those not willing to forfeit their citizenship to become a Japanese citizen shouldn't complain.

You say that Japan doesn't allow dual citizenship, yet it puts people through this official performance and, for those who just chose Japanese nationality, it is a dual national who walks out the door...

Once the person decides to chose to retain their Japanese nationality, they have to give up the passport of the other country and relinquish the the citizenship. If they don't then Japan will automatically revoke their Japanese citizenship. So no they won't be able to be a dual citizen.

How can you pull someone up for using "halfu" and then teach them instead the incorrect "half"?

How is using half incorrect? If his wife is Japanese and he is not, then his children will be half Japanese. What was it that Donald Trump did that was considered mocking?

I suppose if someone was talking to your Japanese wife or halfu children this way you be fine with it...

How can you criticize someone for doing an accent, then do it yourself by using the word "halfu" instead of half?

Can you imagine the backlash and outcries of racism and white supremacy if people said the same thing in regards to America?

Anyone who claims racism and white supremacy because of deported people breaking the law would just be uneducated useless people who don't understand how the law works. Usually known as SJWs.

For all the comments about children, the spouse or child of Japanese nationals is the visa for foreigners who married a Japanese citizen or if there was child over 20 that chose the foreign parents country for citizenship. A child born in Japan from an international couple is a Japanese citizen and doesn't have a visa, they are a citizen of Japan until they are 20. At 20 they can decide if they want to be a citizen of the foreign parents home country. Then they will loose their Japanese citizenship. Japan doesn't allow dual citizenship. The 80+ cases are most likely going to be the fake marriage people.
