With the relentless fighting spirit, Saudi Arabia and Japan so far are the two Asian teams that came from one goal down to defeat the two soccer powerhouses of the world.

Meanwhile, the Socceroos have steadily lost their fighting spirit since Arnold was chosen to be their head coach in 2018.

Japan won't do anything. Japan is an ally to no one but itself.

What a selfish and narrow-minded view!

In case China attacked the Senkaku Islands and that the US had the same kind of negative view, who will come to the rescue?

Brazil provides about 20% of China's needed iron ore while Australia provides over 60%. Australia is by far the worlds biggest supplier and there just is no other source of production in operation that can replace Australian ore at this point.

With the current market tightness together with long-term reliability and political stability, it is difficult for China to source iron ore from alternative sources in both short and long terms. And Beijing is well aware of that.

China on Thursday said Australia's sudden scrapping of a Belt and Road Initiative deal risked "serious harm" to relations and warned of retaliatory actions, but Canberra insisted it would not be bullied.

I hope China will not inflict itself this time.

In case Xi Jinping and his government have the guts, they should consider banning China from buying Australian iron ore and see who will suffer.

Beijing has struggled to gain international trust for its vaccine candidates, hindered by a lack of transparency on test results.

To date, there is no evidence that Xi Jinping had been vaccinated and that could be an indication that Chinese vaccines are still continually being developed for top Communist Party leaders. The free world should only accepted the validity of Chinese vaccine when Xi Jinping is publicly seen rolling up his sleeves for COVID-19 shot.

It is possible that Nhung has worked as an assistant for her relative for years before she set up her own. To crack down on tax evasion and protect public health and the integrity of the cosmetic profession, the Japanese Police should question Nhung's relative.

Posted in: Submarine collision with ship left more extensive damage than first thought See in context

Kishi said Monday the Souryu was unable to avoid hitting the commercial vessel despite the ship being visible in the submarine's periscope as it surfaced.

Given the delay of more than 3 hours, it is possible that the screw of this submarine has something serious to hide. This incident remind me the criminal case of Katsutoshi Jitsukawa, the first officer of Japan Airline, in the ABC News article titled "Japan Airlines cracks down on pilots drinking alcohol, upgrades breathalysers internationally" on November 16, 2018:

..."Katsutoshi Jitsukawa had drunk about two bottles of wine and a pitcher of beer the night before he was due to fly from London's Heathrow Airport last month.

He had tried to avoid colleagues to mask the smell of alcohol as they prepared for their flight.

But the driver of a crew bus smelt alcohol on his breath and told police, who charged him for violating British aviation law.

Tests found the 42-year-old first officer had 189 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his system — a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of 0.189, almost 10 times the 0.02 BAC limit for a pilot.

the Japan Navy needs to properly investigate this incident and punish the culprits in the harshest way to avoid more serious disasters.

I couldn't agree with you more.

In case McConnell and many more republican senators do vote to convict Trump, it is a good indication that the GOP is trying to rebuild its brand image and winning back trust of voters and big donors.

Posted in: Trump trial pending; McConnell calls it 'vote of conscience' See in context

For Republican senators, the trial will be a perhaps final test of their loyalty to the defeated president and his legions of supporters in their states back home. It will force a further re-evaluation of their relationship with Trump, who lost not only the White House but majority control of the Senate, as they recall their own experiences sheltering at the Capitol as a pro-Trump mob ransacked the building.

This Trump trial is not only a "vote of conscience" but also a vote of common sense."

For the latter, what is the point to be loyal to the person who has lost his own election after one term, destroyed the brand image of the GOP leading to shock defeats of both houses, and not less important, this person incited his cult members to attack the US Congress' holy temple.

I fully endorse Pelosi's call and believe that it is time for the GOP to rebuild the ruins.

Just more than an hour ago, the ABC News reported that numerous big corporate donors – including Coca-Cola, Walmart, Hallmark, Amazon, Airbnb, and MasterCard – are pulling their political donations from America's Republicans (please refer to the article titled "Corporate donors flee Republican Party following Capitol Hill riot, and it's only the beginning."

I believe that unless the GOP politicians can demonstrate that Trump's influence on GOP is dead, buried, and cremated, more big companies will follow suit.

Particularly, there is no better opportunity for those who voted to reject the certification of the Electoral College votes and also those who are Trump's allies to do the right thing by joining their ten ethical GOP senators to convict Trump in the current impeachment.

zichi Today  07:18 am JST

Trump is highly likely to pardon himself.

With the unpredictability and instability of Trump, anything can happen.

Nonetheless, the US Department of Justice in 1974 clearly stated in what circumstances the US president can be pardoned:

"Under the fundamental rule that no one may be a judge in his own case, the President cannot pardon himself.

If under the Twenty-Fifth Amendment the President declared that he was temporarily unable to perform the duties of the office, the Vice President would become Acting President and as such could pardon the President. Thereafter the President could either resign or resume the duties of his office" (For more details, please refer to https://www.justice.gov/olc/opinion/presidential-or-legislative-pardon-president).

In the end, Trump's fate is in the hand of Pence who can either invoke constitutional authority under the 25th Amendment or pardon his sinful president.
