All are riding on Android's coattails. Google committed a crime against America's national and technological security by giving Android away for free.

You can choose to run anyway or simply set to accept at all times. This feature is actually a godsend for us who dealt with novices who download and install apps from random sites.

@GW

Then why does an American car costs twice as much in Japan? Go price any American car and compare it with its price in its homeland. There is almost a 100% markup. Why?

US cars are more expensive than Japanese cars. Price a Cadillac, I dare you. A Cadillac in Japan costs 2x as much as it does in the US. All the tariffs and taxes makes it undesirable to buy American. Japan is not a free trade country.

@Patrick Hattman

Add NEC Electronics to the mix. NEC Electronics was spun off of NEC some years ago and in 2010 it merged with Renesas Technology creating Renesas Electronics.

Fujitsu is a minor player in semiconductors. Panasonic still has some clout being one of the top 20 semiconductor makers in terms of revenue.

In a way. When I hear and read about all of this, can't help to smile. I read The Japan That Can Say No, and I just wanna go to Ishihara and ask him how he feels about all of this.

Times sure have changed. There was a time when Japanese semiconductor companies ruled the Earth, not anymore.

I'm no culturalogy expert but this makes Japan come off as culturally bankrupt.
