Posted in: Woman standing on platform dies after being hit by passing train in Fukuoka See in context

I wonder if they came on the PA and yell at her to stand behind the yellow line. Sometimes when I am in the shinkansen station, they yell at me - and I'm not even talking about those yellow lines parallel to the track. Talking about those at the very front - sometimes i want to take a pic of the train (front view) - one time, I didnt move, so they spoke to me in English over the PA. (I'm Asian so they thought I was Japanese) haha. I wonder if I dont move, they will speak to me in Chinese... I should try that.. :)

Always stand well back of the yellow line.. The ones in Japan are actually further back then the ones here in Canada, i guess they have to take into account shinkansens. But this woman probably had too much to drink.

I'm scheduled to go to Japan in the spring. The stupid Canadian dollar dropped from last year of 1 CAD = 115 yen to now only 73 yen.. Ouch.. It is going to kill me..budget wise..

i think there are a lot of REALLY amateur photographers.. or can you even call them that? Almost, if not all point and shoot digital camera has at least ISO 800 now, and that is totally sufficient for taking a nice picture without flash...at night! I havent been to the tuna auction, but I'm sure is not darker than night photography. Too lazy to wake up that early for the tuna auction. hehe.

this makes no sense.. Mos Burgers? It would make more sense to serve Cocoichi on the plane. I would prefer to eat curry over a burger though the rice burger is pretty good at Mos.

All these people should take a chill pill. Suicide should only be for people who have some kind of very painful disease with no cure. Too bad for the 2 kids

unfortunately, there are these kinds of idiots everywhere in the world. How they become like that is unclear. The police should have arrested the hecklers for "disturbing the peace". Not sure if they have that in the UK

Posted in: United Airlines boosts 2nd-bag fee to $50 See in context

this is kind of strange. Because Air Canada just decided to allow passengers to have a 2nd bag for free. (they were charging $25 for the 2nd checked luggage) But they said, because of the retreat in the fuel price, they've decided to get rid of the charge. At least some Airline is not gouging their customers

Posted in: What do you think of the recent financial upheavals in the U.S. that have seen Lehman Brothers file for bankruptcy, Bank of America buy Merrill Lynch, the collapse of Bear Stearns and the U.S. governm See in context

there is too much greed in the US market - which caused this. I think some companies who are lucky enough to scoop up their rivals in this turbulent times..will one day become a very strong financial powerhouse..It's too bad that during the good times, all the bankers make a lot of money and live a lavish lifestyle, but when the you know what hits the fan, the taxpayers have to bail them out

I dont understand why people have to do this. If the baby was alive, leave it outside a koban or hospital or something and run off.(assuming she doesnt want it) WHy leave it in a locker? Chances are, this person went out of the way to put it there.

I think my uncle almost starved on his flight from SD to London. Not sure what is going on with the US airlines, but when i flew to Japan last month, I had two hot meals, and a snack. (cold sandwich + cup noodle) and the alcohol was free.

I was there this summer, and the toilet is not stinky. Gansomuro at 3250m is not stinky and the one at the summit on the Gotemba side was OK also. Didnt need a mask..but bring a mask anyways - you'll need it on the way down, with all the ash flying all over.
