I guess if the Li -ion batteries in a 777 dreamliner can catch fire so could those in a drone.

Trump ought to remove that toupee and speak more clearly off the top of his head.

Man arrested for abusing his 2 year old, MAN? Poor little soul please give him to us we would have loved and taken care of him if he were still alive as our own.

.Tessa:Your wager perhaps is true but not all of us that were abused as children grow up this way., some of us at least survive, live to tell the tail and vow never to repeat our fathers mistakes.

John-San: My wife is also Japanese yet I met and married her in the UK. Loves parsnips and UK food generally, Brussels sprouts are hard to grow here in my area, thanks for the advice.

Posted in: Daikon is most eaten vegetable in Japan: survey See in context

I don't mind daikon to a point but where oh where can you get a parsnip? Grown a few myself this year as they are an integral part of a traditional Christmas dinner in the UK. Brussels sprouts I can get though they cost a flippin arm and leg. As for a turkey, perhaps we could just roast Abe.

Then there are the other sort of people that treat their kids like dogs. I know which I prefer.

Sorry but toddlers must be watched, access to outside via doors or windows must be prevented. Basic parenting.

I wonder what would happen if you opened a can of beer on board the ISS?

LOL give it a good ole shake and everyone would get plastered.

Whiskey stored for a year in zero gravity would perhaps give one that floating feeling, imagine how much a we dram would cost down here on the ground.

Mixed feelings for me, the death sentence or the rest of his life in prison as a child killer? Perhaps 10 years on death row then hang the b@st@rd.

RIP Kids.

lucabrast

Correct but somewhat inflated during August I think,

A loop in a 50 year old fighter jet? Tragic outcome in the name of entertainment. Sad.

Posted in: For our readers who live in Japan, what are some items you always make a point to bring back to Japan after you return from a trip abroad? See in context

I buy British stuff online at the British corner shop, it's a tad cheaper than the flight to London. If I do go I'd bring back a large box of parsnips as they are not grown in Japan. Unless any of you know better?

Posted in: Man dies after being hit by piece of falling crane in Chiba See in context

Surly the area in the potential drop zone ought to be cordoned off with staff preventing access to pedestrians. Gross negligence resulting in death.

There's something very odd here, even in a drunken stupor he would wake after a few hours surly? Dehydration is unlikely as there is water available in most Japanese toilets.

Physics aside, I have driven in Japan for better than 10 years and never seen an unmarked intersection! White line and stop triangle indicating priority is equivalent to a red light! Someone is at fault here either one of the drivers or the local authority. I do hope the kids recover.

Posted in: No. of accidents involving people using phones while walking increases See in context

Smart phones? I guess some folk that use them are not smart! Walking, driving etc has to be dumb. Take away attention via anything will lead to people falling, crashing and so on. Stop.. chat/text if you must. Every so called smart phone ought to come with a warning. These things should not be useable if the user is moving. IMO
