I have the utmost respect and admiration for these nurses and all health care workers. The stress and strain must be exhausting, especially when it affects their family situations. It's a shame they don't have a government that works as hard for the public as they do.

Posted in: Japan opens mass vaccination centers in Tokyo, Osaka See in context

Why mass centers in Osaka and Tokyo?! This is only going to force the elderly in other prefectures to travel long distances and will put them at greater risk of infection.

Set up regional centers in each prefecture. Surely they have the logistics to get this done. Or maybe not...

After that city hall has stocked up on new fax machines, they're going to have a great bonenkai this year. Might be a bit left over to fund the 46 people needed to monitor the road repair works.

No worries at all people!

A few moushiwake gozaimasens and some deep bowing (behind perspex screens of course) will fix that.

Next monumental fumble please. We haven't had enough.....

Posted in: IOC says negative public opinion no threat to Tokyo Olympics See in context

The sheer arrogance of this man and organization is astounding. I've never really been fascinated by watching canoeing, archery, or synchronized swimming, so a complete boycott of this event in future will not be that hard.

Posted in: Japan to establish agency to speed up digitalization See in context

Yes, and this new agency will require some paperwork to process the documents, that will need to be Hanko'ed and then faxed to the regional offices, which will then have a series of meetings to approve the paperwork, after which a central committee will need to form consensus on the best way to digitalize. Those findings will then be faxed back to the regions, printed, shared, copied, and Hanko'ed again. Of course, they will need new plastic sheets and a paper ticket numbering system in the city halls to inform the public of this modernization. And please, don't forget your Hanko.

The geniuses that came up with this policy...

The Policy Meeting:

”If we reduce the number of services, that will discourage people from commuting. Does everyone agree?”

Everyone: “Great idea. Let’s try that. We should add an announcement tagline with the word “refrain” in it.”

You couldn’t make this stuff up.

Posted in: Tokyo reports 609 new coronavirus cases; 884 in Osaka See in context

Be responsible. Please show good example. Stay home.

We all know these numbers are manufactured for various agendas. Judging from the huge increase in Tokyo number plates in my prefecture (Kanagawa) over the last few days, people just don’t care anymore and/or are ignoring these “requests” to stay home. Shops and restaurants are stuffed, social distancing has largely been forgotten, and people are going about their business as if there was no pandemic. Guaranteed these numbers will jump in the coming weeks. Golden Week: aka a super spreader event....

Wait. Not so fast....

Storage for a few months first. Then some paperwork to secure the distribution. And a few rounds of consultations and meetings to approve that paperwork. We will of course need committee approval after that which might take 6-8 months to get the required consensus. Now can I have my shot? Noooooo. Still waiting for the results of the prefectural lotteries after which some paperwork will be processed, to process the paperwork, in order to have the necessary documents approved to ensure the right documents are sent to document the documentation. But in the meantime we can put this nice big box of vaccines next to the other nice big boxes of vaccines in a depot somewhere. But that storage will require some paperwork AND some meetings so please bear with us....
