define civilised democracy-you make no sense .higher standards indeed. how i read your definition of democracy, is not what it is. hashimoto is being democratic. in a democratic society you can say what you think, you are saying the opposite

In Germany it's 100% legal

exactly where rights for women as mothers and homemakers are the worst. its called monoism actually, but at least japan is not 100 percent

yes and womens rights involve being able to be a mother and a homemaker, hashimoto needs to balance his opinion about sex, and women. so yubaru, china and america can think they did it all for japan, but in fact japan digs its own hole. but women used for slavery now, today, right now, is what we should be discussing, and japan is the least of the culprits where this concerned.

and sheesh with all the complaining going on about something that was said, about something that occurred years ago, and in someway or other the guy says he doesnt agree with it, and his opinion is so loud out there you know; there should be enough people then to complain and do something about the slavery that occurs in some countries still these days.

Actually I agree with the fundamental perspective that China takes regarding this; though I dont agree with their one child policy.

Er... you discover the principle ? Like in my town, we burn the carnival king (his doll), and sometimes people have burnt dolls bearing a mask and the name of some political leaders that they hate. Well, they do that in wartime. The Chinese, they do it with fireworks.

cos that makes no sense. You draw some dots and join em up? Pick anywhere and anything and anytime and make your line of debate connect.

Smith-you have no sense of anything beyond yourself, seriously. Yang, who YOU say is self-proclaimed, because you happen to be sitting next to the guy and know for sure that there is no other pressure whatsoever on him that would bring out that sort of statement in him. The whole loss of monies and negative return on some goods that he was trying to sell, has no meaning whatsoever to him of course! He must be rolling in the bucks that he could ignore a little bit of a loss on some fireworks at what one would suspect is one of the best seasons for fireworks, and probably a time when he invested a lot thinking there would be a return? You smith, need to stop assuming that your command of the english language is the one and only way of it. Stop correcting others interpretations, just cause it doesnt function with yours and let the words work for themselves.

well I read this article like this: Yang who is an entrepeneur and probably not that interested in politics anyway, just thought the name would sell. I cant read where Tokyo Big Bang means a negative sense. I like fireworks. Somebody took it the wrong way and demanded them off the shelves. And dont worry Hawaii-Japan has gyoza and wonton.

BOTH countries need to show restraint and stop escalating

So says Smithy-who sounds like the voice of reason, but disguises that he means, both governments. Who would bleed their country for their ideals. The only question is, which governments ideals are for the people the most? In which case, shouldnt the debate be about democracy and communism.

yeah but isnt this whole discussion taking attention away from the fact that while Obama buys off some million worth of votes, through ARticle 6 he is hypocritically trying to rid America of a handful of Europeans that dont suit his agenda and are in America under 'political asylum'-you know legally there, but not worth the numbers in votes.

made from scratch is really stretching the meaning there-the guy must be Australian. Im positive they dont put the yeast in thf lour themeselves. Id say they do cook their vegies; maybe that is what he means? My complaint is that they should get their supplies from all food stores in the local area. While ever they only use the one sources they are essentially supporting one business over another. I disagree with this. I think each business should receive their fair equal share of the usiness that school lunches provide.

Posted in: What are your views on women breastfeeding in public? See in context

Disdaining breastfeeding in public does more subtly what outright disapproval of or discrimination against working mothers does more directly

wonbatto, please explain where you get the idea that women are discriminated against for being working mothers? I think you need to stipulate an age you are referring to to make any sense, otherwise it just seems like you have an agenda... a subtle one, and one that I am guessing I would disagree with. In fact Id be willing to bet that your experience in this area concerning breastfeeding is quite limited from the way you talk, but I am sure you could say anything to assure me differently. There is not the disdaining of public breastfeeding that is suggested. It happens in Japan too, and depending on the individual feeding or those in the surrounding environment to what extent public they are and to what extent they take offense or not. It is not illegal. I think there is a big difference between breastfeeding a newborn and a 3yo, and that would have different comments depending on what age group you are talking about.

Posted in: What are your views on women breastfeeding in public? See in context

that's an attitude that this country really doesn't need right now.

Well some people talk as if this country doesnt approve of breastfeeding in public, and that is a bunch of something that I disagree with. What I do think is that contrare to what wonbatto says, this country doesnt need to have mothers of real young ones -because we should distinguish of what age child we are referring to when discussing this subject- mothers of newborns and perhaps to at least the first year of age, who feel pressure to be able to perform as a mother and also be able to maintain the lifestyle of a woman with no dependants. That is a pressure that this country doesnt need. The women themselves feel that pressure enough in my opinion. And it is that pressure that turns young mothers away from having children. Now if anyone wants to bring up the discussion of what age they are referring to when breastfeeding, Id be happy to give my opinion then too, if you want.

Posted in: U.S. teachers take up arms to prevent mass shootings See in context

my conclusion to the thus so far had discussion is that education is being revolutionized from it's Prussian beginnings. In Switerland the diverseness of culture cant be found that is in America. Trying to educate the future under one umbrella of politics is headed for disaster. This is just being played out in history now; how quickly the public wants to heggle it out is up to the public, but with this recent discussion surely people would be getting the hint, that education is headed in a new direction. Even the liberal and conservatives agree on this; that it is headed in a new direction. Because they dont agree on what direction causes all this crap. And so taking a new way away from the Prussian styled education; that is away from where the government controls what is education surely must be where it is headed. There are some who fear how that would reflect on gender equality, but in even the most equal of countries, Sweden, the results of research show that gender equality creates more psychological problems than not. Gender fairness is a must, but fighting for gender rights and as a part of the argument of how to be educated, that is equal education, seems to be heading in the wrong direction too. The same can be said for economical differences in education; to have the freedom of eductaion would seem a right, yet stipulating what qualifies as quality education surely must be allowed to differ. The same as to the length of time required to be eductaed and so on. It is just all too controlled and this argument about guns, just shows how controlling it would get. Trying to sweep it under one umbrella ...and well...... I hear Pink Floyd's song loud and clearly.

Maybe if he can stir the economy as he says and deepen dialogue, then China will see that if Japan's economy is stirred it will only lead to China receiving some sort of economical positive fallout from it too. Which in turn may ease tensions surrounding the islands....? Any spending that happens in Japan is bound to end up in China somewhere along the way.

Posted in: Man kills mother, then 26 at Connecticut school, including 20 kids See in context

what bothers me is that the killer is constantly stated as having a mental illness. Fact-his mother was a teacher that worked there and was among those killed. Is it so silly to assume that, here was a still relatively young man with a known mental issue, his mother who owned, not one but several guns, which he obviously knew about, was a teacher who helped other children....Is it so hard to draw some conclusion that this young man was seeking some attention from his mother, who he obviously was confused about her own intentions what with being a teacher and having a set of guns....? Or is it just easier to say mental illness? I agree zichi, why arent people protecting their children.

yubaru-get off the train get a license and youd see whole lot more. zichi, yes it does seem like a lot. Maybe you are for poor quality, or underpaying, or maybe youd rather the govt just stimulate the economy with a 5man per child allowance for everybody which would be cheaper? Then again you could just take in some of the monetary talk nigelboy has provided.

hydro electricity is that what they call it(in english)...anyways yous people should watch some kids programmes they are very informative. Arent they trying to make energy production at a local level, I believe a few have already been set up. And the process is way easier than solar or wind. Mind wind is still being developed. But solar? In Japan? The technology just doesnt have seemed to have reached that cost productive level yet? Dams, will funnel the water not to waste and keep it a lot more controllable to be used for energy, I reckon. And what is with all the concrete talk? Havent you seen how green Japan is? Weeds grow like mad each season. Snowy areas even have a high fertile produce. While Im cautious about the LDP being voted in, what they are suggesting with construction is not as bad as it seems. While I dont always like big construction companys, there is a possibility for mid-level construction companies to improve, which is definitely needed, and would stimulate the economy. And doesnt deserve the bad-mouthing towards construction that big companies have created.

They will use dams and use water for energy. zichi I thought you were all for people getting out of the cities and eco friendly energy? Infrastructure in not so condensed areas surely would also deal with safety issues regarding earthquakes? Ill admit there was probably underhanded moves, but not all, and construction isnt the only place that happens.

what is it with people who dont get it that the legislation would in effect make a precendence for any sort of gathering, and is totally not democratic???? What your partner not listening to you that you get such a dictatorial attitude? Like for example, if this sort of legislation was introduced, it is possible to lead to any sort of gathering being banned. How about the wives club with their Attitude with Mind-Deception? Or the average Japanese club in a foreign country, with their Attitude Killer Whale. Or any embassy for that matter. Dont people realize what being constitutional means.

yeah I know nothing.

"The Palestinians say continued settlement construction is a sign of bad faith, and they refuse to return to the negotiating table unless Israel stops the building."

How is it a sign of faith? Bad or good? The place looks desolate, construction and making it livavble surely would require faith-faith that it is possible, faith that it would be available for those who would be willinging to live there, faith to live there.

And this part surely seems crazy. "Constructing settlements just isn’t constructive,” she said."

Constructing not constructive?!?! hahaha, just look at them pictures the place needs someone doing some construction because beyond them buildings the place looks totally uninhabitable. Anyone who said they wanted to do it, Id say, let them try. Obviously some people dont know enough about construction. Obviously some people think it is all money. Obviously some people would like to live in tents, and obviously some people-most people-would rather not.
