Posted in: A taste of Scotland in Japan: Nikka Whisky See in context

Thanks for the well written article, Elizabeth. And Bertie, wow, what a coincidence, the first to post - perhaps the first to read this article, and your experience. To have taught the grandson. But, can you imagine if zichi had been his English teacher?

I personally like the small bottled Nikka's that you can buy at the Japanese 7/11's. Never had a high end Nikka. Have done a couple bottles of Bowmore, tho. Pricey and smokey. Good stuff. I asked the store clerk (in LA) if it was Japanese. Because who would bow more?

Hey tapi0ca, sorry you're having such a bad time Japan. I don't think the Japanese forget where the o-tehon (model/example) came from. Or what the original is like. The idea is just learning from what you like and giving it your twist. I think the corn pizzas are for kids. Sweet and pretty. When in Japan, it's a must for me to have a tuna salad and potato pizza (from St Cones). Also the crabmeat and something pizza, again from SC. Can't remember if they have tomato sauce on either. But, they are good. To me, anyway. Search and make your own decisions. Tastes change with age.

And as for Masataka to have gone to Scotland and Rita to come back with him to Japan in the early 1900's is just pretty ballsy. How did they communicate?

The two in the center with the obi wrapped around; they're both a bit high. Especially the guy's. The Japanese feel, I believe is a little lower. A little on the bone. Still, looks pretty good. A young Clark Kent. Hope they're all enjoying the visit.

Thanks, CrazyJoe. I see "hope" in their searching eyes. Life is not always uncomfortable. People aren't all bad. Hope you get to run, roam, and stretch soon. And some good eats.

Magnet, are you sure? This magazine is a great working site and example. I see that the Japanese sites are somehow kinder. Just look at the "Back to top" function. I don't want to put down the forefathers and the very creators of the world wide web, but I just basically know just either American or Japanese things; and man, how tiring it is to navigate around American sites. You don't get "Back to top". This mag, if you check out some poster's suggested youtube info, and when you come back, it even scrolls down to where you were. Monkey likes that.

Monkey doesn't know much, anyway. Phones are for calling and photos. Where's that banana?

Good one, tebasaki. Really funny.

As for the remake, the trailer lets me know it's stupid. You cannot top that original movie.

Sorry, Mr.E.

That's a lot of people. Children without parents. What's the point of being alive there? Sadness. Pain. Fear.

Containment. Please. Do it now. Do it hard. Pound on it. No time for partying (the Olympics). Concentrate and contain it. Please.

How about just settling these out of court? Are there more? It doesn't seem like a fair amount anyway. Giving them closure would be nice. Just a few families (at this time), anyway. The current court may suck; and the past government may have done what they justified as for the good of the country at the time, there apparently was a lack of communicating to the Korean populace from the Japanese government when they handed over the money, along with the apologies (hope there were some sincere words). Well, you live and you learn. Make it better.

Posted in: Driver charged after man who refused treatment is found dead 6 weeks after accident See in context

The driver escorted the victim home. A high probability the man might have died within 24 hours of the accident? A blow to the head, the cause. Could it have happened in the apartment? Wouldn't an honest man try to contact the victim? Phone him everyday? And think something is wrong, after a few attempts, and visit?

Zimmy was committed to committing the crime when he walked after somebody he knew was not armed from the initial encounter. He couldn't lose.....? When did it become okay to fire a "metal" "bullet" into somebody for punching you? Aren't you suppose to throw one back? A punch? Not a bullet. That's a lot of hatred. In that bullet. And not fair.

Leslie, thanks for the photos. I dug the shots of the bridge and the lotuses. The dense colors and the framing. You are pretty dang good, as a photographer, and as a writer, too. Thanks again. I am in Los Angeles.
