Possible reason for low numbers:

High vaccination rate.

In Germany it's said that the vaccine does give you a good protection to not transmit the virus in the first 2-3 month, but this protection disappears.

Another reason is that japanese people don't go often to the doctor... If there is just a low fever or headache (thanks to the vaccine) they just go to work = No testing.

Even of it's still in Tokyo... get in the packed train to the oxygen station.

People in their 20s (574 cases), their 30s (368) and their 40s (305) accounted for the highest numbers, while 248 cases were aged under 19.

Looks like you are immune when you are 19 years old.

Saw this information the other days too but I wanted to check it several times.

Posted in: Bach says canceling Tokyo Olympics not an option despite COVID See in context

...with the cancellation, we would have lost a whole generation of athletes.

Instead we loose lifes of people around the world and ofc the not vaccinated "Chinese" population in Japan by spreading the virus more and more. Great idea. Not

Posted in: Japan may get herd immunity for COVID-19 by mid-October: study See in context

The government has temporarily halted company applications for COVID-19 vaccinations at workplaces due to concerns it will be unable to distribute doses quickly enough.

Stopping it because it would be too slow? I don't get it. Well then don't doing it at all seems to be the better choice ...

Posted in: Tokyo reports 294 new coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 1,323 See in context

I heard that most of the tests they do are from healthy people which have to do tests at the airport for example when arriving in Japan.

This would explain why there are so many negative tests when you actually have to be really sick to get tested.

Is it Tokyo Times or Japan Times?

I wonder why Tokyo alone is always in the focus... the reported 26k are just in one city. Its not Japans over all.
