Posted in: Tsunami caused by Tonga volcano eruption stumps Japan weather experts See in context

I think most of the algorithms, system and software used are outdated. Since CPUs cost has down drastically, They should upgrade system and algorithm to predict more accurately. These days we can buy supercomputer equivalent system of 1990s. Tidal wave 2.5 earlier? And calculation difference of 4-5m in Tohoku case is no joke.

Posted in: Kishida says he is committed to containing virus amid Omicron surge See in context

Everyday I see lot of "JT-experts" comments and complaints in here. I don't think anyone can/has ability to stop virus infection in open environment specially with moving homo-sapiens around with diverse logic and creative brain. If it is difficult to understand; Border restriction will decrease the inflow of virus-carrier into the country. Vaccination will reduce the overflow of patients in hospitals. Mask will reduce the number of virus that enters into our system (similar to border control) Which will prevent infection as it takes certain amount of virus to start infection. Alcohol ban means less crowd and go home early you should be happy "unless". Remote/Tele working means less travel, less exposure. Its true that what politicians do is only talk-talk very "committed talk" but as a good citizen/human one should follow, read science article and do their own part.

Very talented player but full of pride (different kind). Law is law deport him. The law was set before his visa was set. He/his agent provided false info. He could have avoided all this saga just by being more humble to immigration officials. Learn from Federer, Sampras, Nadal, Stefi so on...

Posted in: Japan requests U.S. base curfews; Okinawa reports 981 virus cases See in context

981 is just an official number the real number might be more as instant PCR is not possible unless emergency. Walk-in PCR is not available and one must reserve time-slot for PCR test, which currently takes 2-3 days. It's sad to see that a mere PCR takes so much time. BTW PCR/RT-PCR is the basic and easiest part of molecular biology. Wake up Japan. Start investing in science and technology too.

At present Japan can't boycott China, no matter what. They have invested heavily on a industry called "tourism" and more than 60% of tourist is from China. Japanese auto industries have also invested in China. In next few weeks we are going to hear all types of diplomatic and confusing speech but at the end Japan will join China.

Posted in: Gov't confirms 1st Japanese infected with Omicron variant See in context

@ No deaths from Omicron so far...

Maybe virus has learned that killing host is no good. So only selected sequences which is enough to complete its life purpose more efficiently. Or maybe it has yet to hit the poor economy. The most death from Delta variant was not due to virus but was due to lack of O2 cylinders, ventilators and ICU beds.

Accident happens, but as a responsible person/ military/ marine they should know that that bottle will be more than enough to kill someone from certain height. It was fortunate that nobody got hurt. Okinawa is not a warzone or desert area, It's a city. You guys should be more careful.

Posted in: Gov't panel proposes more support for firms hiking wages See in context

Increasing wages, results increase in health insurance, pension and income tax. Even 100yen/day increment does more damage to working class. Govt basically instructing companies to pay them indirect way. If you are so worried about working class please give them tax break. Also, if you insist companies to increase wage please consider to increase income rage for tax calculations too (*lets do your part first).

Posted in: Weak yen morphs into new threat to Japan with surging energy costs See in context

After carefully reading all the comments made by Mr. Shunsuke Kobayashi, chief economist at Mizuho Securities Co.

I gave up hope on humanity.

Your govt made Tourism the top priority to boost economy, kept yen on check. Hotels and roadways were constructed exponentially. While budget on research, science and development were cut down. Ever wonder why Japan was unable to produce its own vaccine? 90% of mask, medicine available in market are foreign made. Those days are gone when there use to be a mark "made in Japan". Except bunch of car and heavy industry companies Japan is hollowed out from inside. J-gov only cared for tax. Tourist will bring money, 1000yen /head. More hotels/restaurant more part timers, more tax, more import of foods/goods more import tax. The whole thinking is a mess.

Now the yen is at lowest but there is nothing to export. slow clap!

Lucky to be within that 50%. Hopefully, we'll cross 90% soon and life will be back as use to be.

Well, If the Government says it it must be true. Ha!

You should visit a vaccination center. 200-300 people getting vaccinated per hour like some sort of robotic assembly line. Also, I think the data is automatic updated due to barcode thing. It ain't manual.
