Wow, another self-admitted unqualified person at the top in Japan. Wheeeeeee! "You mean that this is the best Japan can produce? All these top level universities? 'God's chosen?' The ones who called Chinese, Koreans, Philippinos and others dogs? The Superior race? The ones who elected Inose, an award-winning non-fiction writer who turned to politics in the early 2000s, to office? Perhaps he wrote some of the swanky comics I see everyone reading in conbinis around Japan. And he might be replaced by "Hideo Higashikokubaru, a comedian-turned-politician who resigned as a lower house member this week, and education minister Hakubun Shimomura." Just WOW!!!!!!

For all of you that have no experience or knowledge about war... Even if you don't want to fight them, they want to fight you. If you think for 1 second that China is just going to sit back and let all of the other little countries keep those little disputed islands, you are in for a rude awakening. There have always been wars throughout history, and there always will be. Just because it is 2013 doesn't mean that humans have grown out of fighting. It is about time for the world to purge itself of some of this infestation called 'humanity' because it is severely draining the ecosystem and sustainability.

And this is why Japan shuns the "1 person is responsible" idea. It is impossible to wipe out upper management because the business will fail. So, slaps on the wrists are the word of the day in Japan, and always will be until someone gets up enough guts to do soothing about it.

Posted in: Anti-whaling nations warn both sides against violence See in context

Personally, I'd like Japan to stop whaling because replenishing the stocks of whales is not as easy as breeding land-based animals. So, the chance for stock recovery is not quite as high. With that said, I'd love to work on a whaling boat if only for the fact that I could get to sling some stuff back at the SS crew.

Whalers, I've got a helluvan arm and tons of experience on boats if you need a hand.

How about making kiddie porn illegal in Japan? How about banning comics with illustrations of under age sex? How about making real laws with real punishments for any activity involving children and sex in Japan?

Wow, can you imagine the chaos that would create here?!?!?!

"I’m really tired of Japan’s idea of withholding names on what it incorrectly identifies as “youths" And I'm tire of the same arguments every time a 18 or 19 year old commits a crime. If we change the law and 18 years old are considered an adult, then what ? Somehow it will reduce the crime rates ? You think 17 year and 364 day old guys are innocent kids but somehow 1 day later they are responsible for their actions because they are 18 ? 18 year olds are considered an adult in Americ and that doesn't seem to lower their crime rates does it ?

Hide, it isn't about 1 day making a difference on crime levels. It is about protecting the guilty. Youths who know that they will be protected are more likely to commit crimes than those who know that their names will be made public. So, indirectly, it does make a difference.

If they burn you with their cigs, hold them responsible and call the police

Spudman, I'll agree and join your cause when you show me solid proof of colognes and stinky foods causing health problems, particularly cancer.

Cos, yes, members of the Japanese government probably are fans of "tarento". But more importantly, they are smokers themselves, or their "friends" are smokers, and there is no way that they will pass a law to inconvenience themselves.

I am not the brightest guy around, but how about this? Close the Frigging doors!

Every major store has it's AC running on full blast, but have the doors on the ground floor open so that all of that cold air is wasted into the environment. Which BRAINIAC came up with that idea? Probably the same one which produced the opinionated model who says smoking outside is worse than smoking inside.

Exactly, CGB. Smoking outside, where the wind is blowing dissipates the smoke much more than the slow fans inside a restaurant or bar. Just more proof that models should keep their opinions to themselves, so that immature fans don't take up their cause just because it is "in fashion."

So, Japanese can smoke inside most restaurants and bars, where workers have to endure it, but people walking outside cannot slow down or speed up to avoid the smoke. I think that is kind of backwards.

Posted in: Osaka mayor's survey finds 10 education professionals with tattoos See in context

Japan, you are frigging crazy. How do I know? I looked to the right and saw an article of a Japanese man who chopped off hits naughty bits and cooked them. To make it worse, Japanese people lined up for chance to pay to eat them.

Now, one of the highest people in government believes a hidden tattoo is going to contaminate one of their precious kids.

I worked at an elementary school for 2 weeks when I first got to Japan, and saw a student kick one of the teachers in the stomach, and walk away Scot-free. The same day, a pair of Japanese Monster Parents informed me that they wanted me to forget about the other students and spend more time with their little precious rugrat. After not liking my answer of essentially "Frig off, I won't ignore the other kids" they complained to the school.

Now, I own my own school while some 19 year old WHV-holder deals with that mess.

I hope you all know that the Yaki imo trucks get the wood to bake their potatoes from where ever they can, including wood used from old houses that were chemically treated with a variety of toxins. "Itadakima~su!"

Fail? She'll make some money, but it won't be on par with Britney, and the other Pop stars. I imagine one concert in LA, and one in NY before she comes back to Japan labeled as "an International Star" by the Japanese media. Then she'll make a killing here in Japan. Where is the fail in that? Yen can be converted to dollars, Euros, dinars, pesos... fairly easily at the bank.

I guess there are no tranquilizer guns in Japan. They should let loose one of the recent "knifers" or the 60 year-old lady that threatened the school, to rid Tokyo of this "troublemaker" that urinates in public.

Yeah, I saw the time difference too. It's bad reporting/writing. It should be worded correctly so it is more clear to readers.

Is that 6,000 or 60,000? A Typo? Thepro, quite a few are. My wife used to work for Gucci and LV and she sees some everyday. They are not hard to spot really for people that know LV. There are some really good copies out there that pass as authentic without a really good look.
