Posted in: Ford to pull out of Japan, Indonesia See in context

It is indeed sorry to see Ford Japan exit from the market. I had a Ford international European model and have had zero problems and runs great. Ford could have really made a dent in the market if they stuck to the sporty models like the Ford Focus ST which sold like hot cakes when it first came out and got great reviews worldwide. The last one they imported to Japan was in 2006 which is a real shame. Real Ford die hards will now have to rely to small importers to get their hands on European Fords which they currently do, but sell at quite a premium. And as the majority of the comments on this page, Ford did not spend any money on advertising to the greater broad audience, only to it's small pool of existing clients who happened to buy Ford. But those who did, I must compliment them on the professional service they provided to their clients.

Posted in: Memo to U.S. citizens: Pay your taxes or you may lose your passport See in context

Although I do not agree on the U.S. filing requirement for all U.S citizens residing aboard, but one thing needs to be stated is that it is not double taxation. Whatever taxes you pay in Japan is a foreign tax credit against your U.S. tax bill, so if the tax bill is higher in Japan, then you will not pay any taxes to the U.S. government. But yes, it is a hassle to file U.S. taxes, but your not paying double.

Unfortunately, as they say in Japan, whether your innocent or guilty, run if your being charged rather than go through a long and arduous archaeic legal process that they have in Japan...

Posted in: After big win, Naomi Osaka gets another test: Japanese media See in context

Who cares about her nationality or her language capabilities, she is a great up and coming tennis player. American tennis training programs and facilities are top programs in the world, so she has to train in America, and therefore her English will excel. My prediction, she will be in the top 50 by the end of this year!!

It was a combination of over exhaustion and lack of nutrition, I don't think the caffeine alone killed him. Anything taken in overdose can be bad for you if not toxic in some cases.

Posted in: Teacher slaps, headbutts 12-year-old student in Ehime See in context

When a teacher disciplines a student, he should not be alone with the student and supervised by the principal. A meeting should then be held with everyone later to discuss the students behavior with the parents. If the student is seriously unruly and disruptive, they give a warning and put up for expulsion, or visa versa if the teacher is being unfair and prejudiced against the student, it is brought up and discussed between principal and parents, and if appropriate warning measures against the teacher.

Posted in: Obama says U.S. will overcome terror threat See in context

Obama talks about it also being a national security problem, which I believe is exactly right. The incident in California could have prevented had they not allowed these people to legally purchase the two automatic rifles and enormous stockpile of ammunition. How could this possibly happen, why do people need to purchase automatic rifles, period!!

the foul ball to her eye was not intentional, so don't understand how the lady could have won the lawsuit. sounds like the usual archaic japanese law at work.

Posted in: Co-pilot deliberately slams plane in Alps; families ask why See in context

He should have just rolled off the edge of the rock barricade he was sitting on at the Golden Gate bridge. And I don't see how an airline could allow the cockpit to be manned by one pilot at any one time, even for just a bathroom break especially as we have come to understand that the pilot in the cockpit can override any attempted entry into the cockpit.

This guy will be in a for a sweet surprise. I hope he is reading these comments as he has another thing coming. These antics may have worked 20 years ago, but most Japanese girls will not allow even a white male to do such things. And by the sounds of it, he has managed to gather quite a few enemies now banding together to take this guy down hard.

survival of the fittest hey? How cruel. I don't see how a state can ban people from handing out food. But handing out money to them is okay?

Company should take responsibility. He could have quit, but was possibly scared to quit and forced by his employers. And mentally he was unstable and unable to make a rational desicion.

Wow, sounds like something out of an American movie drama!! I hope for the best that they find the students, but have doubts they might not find them... Greed and corruption has led to their downfall, how story book can you get.

Chang has corrected his unneccesary jumping movement, and only on occasion will he do the Air Kei that he is famous for. He is very thin and think building more muscle will help him and with age, he will naturally get stronger. I am confident he will take a grand slam in 2015.

Posted in: Citigroup to exit retail banking in 11 markets, including Japan See in context

They are selling their retail banking services, but will continue to provide the normal services as they have been up until now. So as it stands now, you don't have to necessarily get your money out and look for another bank to put in. My guess is a megabank will buy them out and will keep the same branches and outlets as is and just change names.

Posted in: Passenger arrested for sexual assault on Hawaii-Japan flight See in context

wow, he really must be messed up in the head to actually force the crew to screw off the hinges of the door. Was he continually trying to assault the poor woman during the whole time they were getting off the door? Hope she is not too scarred by this incident. They should fully press charges against this man, if he was that much danger to the public because of mental health conditions, he shouldn't have been walking around without proper supervision. Wonder if he was on other drugs than prescription.

Posted in: Biker assaulted by iron bar-wielding Nara innkeeper See in context

All I can say, the inkeeper had alot of guts to do that and would have had second thoughts of doing that. I have seen and had a fried taunt one of these bosuzoku groups, and they came after him with a veangance smashing the back of his car window chasing him all the way to the police station where they gave up pursuit. He should have just called the police to complain of noise disturbance and keep calling them every time it happens. Not worth putting your life on the line for something out of your league.

Dang, he must have had some serious hate to go as far as he did. Sad it ended this way and really wonder how far his mother really pushed him. But I do know how boys do not like to be told what to do by their mothers and have witnessed knives being drawn to threaten. The mother no longer tells him what to do.
