That's Stiglitz, always take inequality as his core point of view, which I think isn't really the main concern with Japan's economy. I tend to agree with another poster here who said it's more about government spending than anything else.

Japanese can be racist sometimes, but hey most country too to some degree. There's nothing wrong with tight immigration policies including towards refugees, but I agree that Japan can and able to do more than they are now.

Posted in: Severed head, two legs of cat found in Tochigi park See in context

Reminds me of a novel I recently read with cat killings, Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. In it there's also a scene of thousands of fishes raining down from the sky. Good novel, though I would hate it if some sicko trying to relive the scene in real life...

I agree that this might be the doings of multiple persons. This kind of things can give influence and inspire another unrelated person to do the same. I believe it's called copycat crime (no pun intended).

Akimoto should not use Cool Japan funds for this. Another idol group in Filipina might be a good business venture for Akimoto, but using Cool Japan funds for that is a bit unethical.

Posted in: Why do extremists drive Toyotas? asks U.S. See in context

wtfjapan: The humvee or another light armoured vehicles are easy to take out with 20mm round or Hellfire missiles from a A-10 Warthog or Apache Gunship. Or even a IED. What the Landcruiser does have over the LAV , Humvee is speed.

You're right. Though I imagine I would feel safer in a humvee against small arms attack, as I assumed the toyotas body panel will be much easier penetrated by M4 or M16 NATO rounds.

Let them have the shiny Toyotas, it's not armored so it just makes them easier to target and a pleasure take out.
