There's no reason why Qatar should be hosting. It should have been the US. The number of Americans who purchased WC tickets in 98 was twice the population of Qatar. Qatar has no use for stadiums post WC. Plus their team sucks donkey balls. They've never qualified for WC and never will. What a goddam farce.

J-Pop is worse than American pop. Even Korean pop is better. The good stuff in Japan is all underground.

Uhh... all MA's are made up and changes all the time. There is nothing "pure" or "traditional". It's all made up by some guy, often illiterate and with severely dysfunctional. All this mister miyagi last samurai cow manure stuff has to go.

Uh... as a former high school tennis athlete extraordinaire I can tell yout that Date is a monster. You keyboard warriors don't know how athletic and precise she was in before her retirement or how ridiculously difficult it is for her to have come back and break top 50 ranking in women's tennis this day and age.

Posted in: What is the best way for parents of children of mixed heritage to make sure their kids grow up bilingual? See in context

There's no easy way. You have to be a mindful parent and make sure your kids use both, or more, languages on a regular basis in a disciplined way. That includes reading and writing, NOT JUST home conversations. Otherwise one language will automatically be dominant and your kid will be conversational in the other language with varying degrees of non-native accent.

I met her during one of her practices before US Open in her younger days. She was a breakout player and I was able to get her signature after practice. She was tiny and extremely nice about giving signatures to fans while being drenched in sweat and still huffing from practice.

LOL. All the whapenese complaints about Koreans being "emotional"(a traditional racist stereotype of Korean in Japan) says more about the wide-spread ignorance about Japanese war atrocities and the persisting ignorance about Japanese denials. Pot calling kettle black???? Korea has never invaded other countries and tried to exterminate their culture and national identity nor have they enslaved 5.4 million people into forced slavery including sexual slavery for teenage girls. Get a grip.

Posted in: Japan says it is too early to resume Korean nuclear talks See in context

Japan lends moral support to South Korea and US for these talks but the players in this talk are US, South Korea v North Korea and China. Japan harping on Megumi and other abductees automatically disqualified them for any sort of dealings with NK given how Japan abducted 5.4 million Koreans for murderous slave labor and abandoned them all over the Pacific, former USSR and Southeast Asia.

That is quite a humdinger. The problem seems to be that you can't apology for something you deny. Japan apologized for war atrocities Japan never committed? LOL.
