The IOC, JOC or LDP etc. don't get to decide what the outcome for this muppet will be. The public decide that. So yeah keep tweeting, retweeting, and clicking on links like this (cuz that's what the media likes and what keeps them covering certain stories). Keep up that pressure till he resigns which will send a message to the LDP and society in general that certain things will no longer be tolerated. btw - Love what @wick_22 tweeted :-)

It's a step in the right direction so proportional credit where it's due I guess...

As an aside, no vaccine is 100% effective and it take 2 jabs weeks apart which most people haven't yet rcvd' (abroad of course) so getting tired of hearing how some people who had the first jab still passed away from C19.

It's inevitable that some people who are vaccinated are still going to fall ill (again, because no vaccine is 100% effective) and some of them, sadly, will pass away.

Not saying there won't be long term side effects (Google: 'Norway vaccine narcolepsy' to see how things can take a slightly unexpected turn) but some people need to get a better handle on what a vaccine does and doesn't do to help stop the spread of misinformation.

No. Prioritize vaccines for medical workers, essential employees, elderly, teachers, then general population. Athletes from abroad don’t get to jump the line and thereby risk a Japanese tax payer (i.e. someone essentially paying for the vaccine and patiently waiting their turn) getting infected for the sake of these unwanted and overpriced Olympics.

@Jonathan Prin

All those people came to take advantage of the country, not flee persecution.

If you were to pick up a history book and read up on; the Sykes–Picot Agreement, the Halabja chemical attack, suppression of Kurds by the Turkish, Iraqi and Syrian states, the US encouarging the Kurds to rise up against Saddam at the end of the 1st Gulf War only for the US not to support them as promised resulting in them getting massacred. Read up on the Kurds being the only force from that part of the world being able to stand up to, and defeat ISIS, to which we all still owe them a debt of gratitude (!) for Trump to then pull the carpet out from under them much to the disbelief/opposition of senior US commanders. Read up on the torture the Turkish state inflicts upon the Kurds not to mention the suppression of their culture and (until recent years) their language. Hey, might as well read up Hasankeyf while you're at it.

After reading up on these things (and there's plenty more out there!) I'd be curious to know whether you still think 'All those people came to take advantage of the country, not flee persecution.'.

Good point and wondered the same. I’m guessing it’s because the Kurds from Syria/Iraq have semi-autonomy so there are less of them seeking refuge abroad.

@oyatoi

Results in the case of celebrities yes but non-celebrities were inconclusive.

General reporting of suicide did not appear to be associated with suicide although associations for certain types of reporting cannot be excluded.

Either way good link thanks for sharing.

From your source:

The best available intervention at the population level to deal with the harmful effects of media reports is guidelines for responsible reporting. These guidelines should be more widely implemented and promoted, especially when reporting on deaths of celebrities by suicide.

If you’re asking jpn_guy to be respectful then, with all due respect to you, you’re entirely missing the point of his post.

He’s quite rightly asking JT to exercise some journalistic integrity and adhere to established journalistic practices with regard to articles of this type. (Apologies if you’re on board with this and I misunderstood your post.)

Intensive care beds data is what needs to be looked at. Japan sits low among OECD members but the average is skewed due to high numbers in Germany, Austria and the U.S. (!).

'Medical staff have left the hospital after being forced to work long hours and in areas that are not their expertise.' [Source: http://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/13985445]

'not their area of expertise' is especially key here. Not saying what they did is right or wrong (who am I to judge?) but additional facts shed a different light on what occurred so I'm not sure 'desertion' is the correct term for people quitting their jobs because of inadequate training and working hours.

@P. Smith

Absentee ballots that were incorrectly marked (e.g. lacking a signature) and that need to be ‘cured’ (i.e. fixed) have up until 17:00 on Friday 11/6 to be resubmitted in GA which could boost Biden’s lead there (and hopefully avoid the 0.5% for a recount).

{Source: https://apnews.com/article/georgia-ballot-count-elections-2020-91afafe6251b498cb306508763aa64dc and retweeted by AOC 21 hours ago as of this posting}.

Point being that the call to Trump supporters in PA to return their absentee ballots is probably a similar thing that the Dems. are asking their supporters to do in GA as many people don’t know about the 17:00 11/6 deadline for ‘cured’ absentee ballots.

Trump himself probably isn’t aware of this (no surprises there....) when he said what he said about efforts to vote after the 3rd.

You can’t even call cannabis a ‘drug’ anymore. It’s illogical that’s it hasn’t been made legal or at least decriminalized in most, if not all, countries by now.

No, I’m not saying it doesn’t have its downsides (because it does imho) but for it to make headlines anywhere is laughable in this day and age.

With the exception of the one woman Abe is walking past the only other women in the photo are standing at the back looking like the back office support staff they probably are. Now why doesn't that surprise me?

Anyone of them is probably smarter and more tuned in to the lives of everyday people than the muppets up front.

Another 10 years and Japan will wonder why countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia will have surpassed them in GDP.
