Large Snow events tend to occur in warmer conditions rather than very cold conditions.

Further this year we have witnesses warm artic cold continents phenonina along with a La Nina partern which normal causes the eastern side of the continent to be warmer and the western side of the continent to be cooler.

A look at Global Ice indicates we have been warming since about the mid eighteenth century with a brief pause circa 1960 and 1970's. Is it man made aor natural osscilation? Probally a combination of both!!

@Cities such as London and Paris, not as accustomed to flying planes in below-freezing temperatures as say Moscow or Stockholm, buckled under the snow.

Europe's usually benign winter climate is due to the gulf stream and normal south west air currents. However at 52 degrees north latitude (same as central Sakhilin) they should expect some severe winter weather and prepare. London Heathrow airport made a pre tax profit of about 1.5 billion USD last year but spent only just over a Million on snow and de-icing equip.

It is a catch 22 situation, there are no easy solutions and each solution carries risk, but war would leave all losers, even the north.

@rajakumar.

I would check you statistic for Koreans killed in the 1940's. 80 Million sounds much too high, possible a factor of 10.

Talk is cheap, it needs to be backed by actions. Somehow I doubt that will occur.

Nations of all sorts have much to be ashamed of, that is generally how they became nations, taking land from others and killing in their wake.

All nations hounor their war dead, (not something I personally agree with, so whether it is Yasukuni, Lenin or for that matter the millions that pay tribute to Mao each year. ALL of them are guilty of attrocities.

@Themarion,

You cannot keep bringing up the past. Those who commited attrocities 70 years ago are dead. You need to move on, Hatred breeds hatred.

Using history to justify modern day prejudice is both dangerous and childish.

whiskeysour, your logic is warped and lacking. China is in a recources grab stage. It is in the process of antagonising virtually every neghbouring country and much of the rest of ther world.

This is not the way forward. Cooperation, respect for others and common sense when considering land and sea claims.

Whether a country has 1000, 10000 or no islands is not at issue, rather who lives there now. Using your logic Taiwan should be return the original inhabitants who now compose 2% of the population.

All of Japan's cpmpetitors actively devalue their currency, Japan just needs to do the same and not worry about threats from others. If the BOJ shows that it is serious about devaluing the curreny then traders will not bet against it.
